How can I dm a guy I think is cute at my high school without being awkward?

I followed this guy mostly because I just wanted more followers (very teenage girl I know.) When he followed me back I checked out his profile and I realized he was really cute and his hobbies were interesting. With some guys I might be able to just gather up the courage to just be like “hey” or whatever but he’s kinda “nerdy” (nothing bad just the best descriptive word I could come up with) kinda like a theater kid so I don’t know if he’ll be weirded out if I approach him like I would some super popular horny teenage football player.

I feel like more studious type guys are less receptive to some random girl dm-ing like she already knows him. I just want to avoid the whole “do i know you” awkward thing. Especially when dming a guy alone is already kind of embarrassing…. What should I do?

I know it has been a long time since I was a teenager, but I was the music and drama guy in high school. My girlfriend was the brainiac. She was the one who approached me first. I am so glad she did! We have been married and in love for 50 years. Go for it. What do you have to lose?

Well, I was on the school morning “radio” program. We would spin some vinyl and make announcements. She came in to the little studio to being me a couple of her favorite albums. She asked me to play them. So she didn’t say much, it was the way she looked at me that did it. Although it was subtle, she made the first move. I had leads in musicals, sang solos, but was really shy in meeting girls. It was almost like…there really is a Cupid. I surely was shot by something!

Honestly? Try it with openness. I for example (in real life a little bit introverted) would be very happy about an open message. For example, something like: "Hey, I saw your profile and I think you're interesting, do you mind if we get to know each other? It is not a guarantee that it works, only sus my view better than always this daily heuchelei 🙈😅

Speaking as someone who was a nerdy kid: we like when girls initiate. Try to involve that theater interest in your opening message, to recognize that part of his life.
