How come so many Americans (not all) are terrified of nudity?

More or less every country, to an extent, is open to nudity (but have limits). Europe in particular is very open to it. But America is something else.

Everybody has opinions, and we respect that. Everybody has a personal choice, we respect that too. It seems in America, particularly among the far right Christians, nudity is politicized and is deemed a work of evil. Apparently, they demand the Statue Of David (Italy) be covered up. It's like they disregard the Adam and Eve story, and the fact that we all came into this world in the buff.

You go to a beach somewhere in Europe and nobody flinches if they see a fully naked person (man or woman). Whereas on a beach in America, a young woman could get reported by an "offended" Karen and get arrested by the local police when said woman accidentally has her swimsuit bottom pulled down.

Now being deliberately nude in a public family friendly place and masturbating/having sex there, THAT'S a different story.

Anyway, what makes many Americans so opposed to nudity, even when it can be legal and harmless? A throwback to the Puritan days?

I don't want America's nudity laws repealed, but would like them eased up: Anybody purposefully naked in a crowded public place intent on masturbating/having sex, or directly abusing a minor MUST be imprisoned, no doubt. Victims of accidental nudity should be assisted instead of condemned/reported. People are free to be naked in their backyard pools or somewhere secluded/deserted where nobody is around. And nude beaches are fine, as are sex education classes and nude art.

People in parts of the US don't need to get panic/heart attacks if they see a woman's nipples or a man's/woman's naked butt crack. Especially if it's for naturalism, freedom and art purposes. They don't need to look. And if they don't approve of nudist resorts, they don't need to go to one. My two cents.

  • I don’t know why, but I have been on the receiving end of some scary older woman on a beach. I forgot I was in the US and just stood up after having undone my bikini top to prevent tan line on my back. This woman started ranting about me corrupting her kids. I have no clue what she was on about until dad stood up and handed me my top to put on. You are right that in Europe nobody worries about anything like that. I think the funny thing is that her kids hadn’t even noticed I didn’t have a top on until she went on about it.

    • This is not freedom. You aren't even directly abusing those minors. The mana bear should mind her business.

  • Most people in Europe are terrified of nudity.

  • Americans are more prude and somehow naturally more conservative than Europeans, that's a fact, do you hear Europeans make big fuss about something so normal like breastfeeding in public like Americans do? Then how do you expect them to accept much more?

  • Possibly in large part due to our Puritan and other denomination heritage.

    • Regrettably

  • Americans hide behind their clothes, but aren't you hiding behind the cloak of anonymity? Apparenty, insecurities are universal and not an exclusive monopoly of Americans!

  • Our country was founded by puritans and other conservative Christian sects, and while the rest of the world has grown more and more secular, the US hasn't kept up.

    • I know. A lot of Americans haven't shed their Puritan DNA.

  • Whenever I shave I want girls to see. What's the point if not? I like to show myself off to a willing female participant.

  • Women or men should not show anything nude anywhere. I would ask them to leave, or me leave and call the cops.

  • Because the Church told them to be

  • Primarily from all the puritan religious dogma the US has suffered from, and still does. Another reason is the clothed minded people who thinks they know better and has not explored the benefits of a clothes-free way of life for themselves and their family.

Also, lands to go are few due to laws from the peoples mentioned above. Would have to visit clubs and resorts and pay money to attend instead of just going to the park.

  • Because they ain't nudity material, they are like me a fuckin lard ass,.

  • We have politicians in their 80s.
