  • Record companies realized that they make more money pushing ghetto culture rather than talent. That's why music is as awful as it is right now.

    • If it keeps selling, they keep making it.

    • @Dargil For sure - but the reality is that overall music sales has been falling for the last 20 years, and the music business is a fraction of the size it used to be. Bands that haven't had a hit on the radio in 20 years are making more money touring than current top acts make. Ask yourself this: name an artist whose last hit was 5 years ago that you still listen to regularly? In the past, that was an easy question to answer, but almost no one has an answer today. I'm a mobile DJ, and high school kids don't want to listen to anything that's more than 2 years old, unless it's more than 20 years old. If I play a song from 6 or 8 years ago, I'll clear the dance floor, even if it was a huge hit at the time - because almost no music made recently has any staying power.

    • Listen to the quality of the music from "4-black girl bands" from Martha and the Vandellas through the Pointer Sisters and even Destiny's Child. Makes you wonder WTF happened? Even rap was fun with Hammer, Tone Loc and Sir Mixalot. When Psy did Gangnam Style and To Legit To Quit with Hammer, I actually clouded up.

  • Feminism.

    • In one system men and women love each other

In the other women are just naked sex puppets that want to have fun...

How did we go from Vanessa Carlton singing a thousand miles to Cardi B singing about her private parts?

Tis why women didn't use to have the right to vote... Because when they get any sort of power they end up as naked sex slaves with children out of wedlock...

  • Sexualized music isn’t new and non-sexual music isn’t extinct. Twelve years ago we had Britney Spears singing “If You Seek Amy” (speculated to mean “F-U-C-K Me”) and now we have Taylor Swift singing “Cardigan”.

    • “If You Seek Amy.” LMAO! What the fuggg? How am I just now hearing this? (Well, considering I'm black and male, I guess I wouldn't know any Britney Spears songs, but that crap is so lame!)

  • Lots of girls have always been thots. They just used to get publicly shamed for being the town whore and spreading their STD's all over the place. Don't get me wrong; I'm not against the promiscuity; not at all. I'm against the shamelessness of it all. Society in general could use a bit more shame and dignity, nowadays.

Also, I would've used a far more crass song. Does anyone else remember this?

I loved all the "white people covers" from 2010. Especially the Megan Mullally (Nancy and Beth) version. The f*cked up thing is, liberals would nowadays consider this "racist" to mock such a stupid song.

  • People want vulgar trash, so here we are.

  • Lyrica content has been on a steady path - downward- for years.

  • Well first off I don't think it's a fair comparison because it's two different genres of music.

I think a better comparison would be Britney Spears since she was known as the pop queen back in the day.

Which by the way isn't that much better when compared to Cardi. But yeah music today is definitely a bit more extreme than before with the whole sexual appeal thing. It's borderline disgusting in my opinion rather than sexy.

Besides Cardi, Nicki Minaj did the same crap and Miley Cyrus went from a good looking country singer to a buzz cut edgy girl that likes to twerk.

It's like the older you get the more immature you become.

  • 10 years ago you were 10... wtf did you care? ... you are 20 now wtf do you care about songs about vagina?

Have you seen some of the question people your age are asking on here?

Why are you acting like you are all sanctified, shocked and appalled by a song? You are probably one of the anons asking dick and pussy questions..

  • because retards keep streaming it

  • When you find the answer, let me know!

  • girls wanted sex all these years but now they're more free to express it so this happens.

  • I think the 90s were quite a decade of change towards more sexual interaction.

  • Rampant stupidity is the only answer I have.

  • Yeah no need for women to sing to me about their private parts. I'd gladly lick it upon their request.

  • Cardi B has some good songs what about Bodak Yellow

    • plus you can't dance to Vanessa Carlton

    • Nah. Cardi B is f*ckin' trash. Only white thots from the suburbs like her. Just like Drake.
