  • Start by telling your story. Tell someone, anyone, me, how your porn use started and has progressed. There are books that can help you find out why you use porn and offer techniques in stopping its use.

Patrick Carnes is an author that I trust.

The prevailing wisdom is that the only way to stop the use of porn is to stop the use of porn.

Support groups have been suggested to me as a help in stopping porn use. I don't wish to dissuade you from them, but in my opinion, they really suck, in plain English. To me, they are very depressing, not affirming in any way. Your mileage may vary.

Call a trusted friend when the urge strikes. That may be where the support groups MAY help. Only someone who has lived through porn addiction will know what you're talking about and be able to help you.

There are many techniques that are similar in fighting any addiction, get busy, take a walk, that kind of stuff. Those will only get a person so far. You must change your life.

I was told to stop drinking when I was 18 years old and that I must change my life in order to be successful at doing so. I did so. It was very hard, but I did it. No one mentioned my porn use to me at the time. I might have kicked it then.

Individual therapy may be of help to you. They'll likely tell you to install apps on your devices that will alert the counselor when you've viewed porn, as a means of being accountable to someone regarding your porn use. It's not punishment. It's to help you.

I'll tell you a bit of my story.

I've been using porn very heavily since I was 12 years old.

It started with Playboy and Penthouse centerfolds.

Now I look for very extreme scenarios, always seeking that new thrill, that new kink, that new whatever that'll get me off.

I'm sure that it has severely negatively affected my social interactions, especially during my teenaged years.

Many opportunities where I could have had loving relationships went down the drain because porn was just too damned easily procurable in order to get my rocks off.

These days, porn is just a click away.

I was told many years ago that I have an addiction to porn.

I will defend and rationalize my use of porn over the last 30+ years as being a result of my life situations. Porn probably set me up in these life situations, but here I am. I do not see any positive changes in my life by stopping its consumption at this point in my life. I might be wrong. I don't think I am.

I'm not at all OK with my porn use, even though I speak in defense of my use of it. That's how bad it is.

That being said, if I were you, I'd do everything in my power to get away from porn.

You're at an age where your life could go in drastically different directions depending on what you now choose to do about your porn use.

I wish you the very best.

  • I masturbate 3 to 4 times a day... when I was your age I did a lot more than that if I didn't have access to a vagina. Of course, this will all change when my wife finally comes home (been over half a year already). It's perfectly normal when you just need to do it. I'm thinking, why stop?

Every time I see some dude on the television where his marriage is supposedly suffering because of his porn addiction... the script is flipped as soon as I see what his woman looks like. She's butt ugly... fell down the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I wouldn't want to fuck her and I bet he doesn't want to fuck her either. So he masturbates to deal with it instead of cheating ASAP.

Yeah... any dude that just doesn't have access to some good vagina he actually finds sexually attractive... probably NEEDS to masturbate just to be able to function in society. I tried to go a month without and I started hitting on every chick I came across... and that's dangerous in this day and age. I could get in trouble. It's better to just rub one out and then not think about it as much for about 20 minutes.

  • If you are spending so much time watching porn that you do not take care of regular life chores, you have no friends, hobbies, then you need to see a professional: a psychologist, social worker, psychiatrist, for help.

Get a recommendation from your primary physician and be committed to disconnecting yourself from a habit that does NOT improve your life. This kind of addiction relieves you of some kind of pain and provides avoidance of positive personal interactions, which I guess also causes you stress and/or pain.

This will take lots of work, will cause discomfort, but in the end will pay off in droves. Get on it! Good luck...

  • Write a list of the things that you hate about porn such as - can't compete with the real thing. Makes you feel depressed or dirty afterwards. Interferes with your romantic relationships. Isolates you from other pleasures and people. Makes you impatient with woman that don't offer sex on dates etc...

    2. Take up a hobby. Learn to paint, play an instrument, something that keeps you occupied.

  • Do some actual and unique exercises to let your Dopamine kick in.

  • Your porn addiction could be a reason. If you don't need internet for work, turn it off. Or get a company computer so you won't look at porn when the company can track it. Also every time you feel like masturbating, if possible, go to the gym or on a walk so you can't at that time.
