I'm involved in the bdsm community and my primary (also poly) wants to collar me. Now I see this whole thing as a HUGE step because that's devoting your life to someone, submitting your whole being. Am I weird to feel this way? do others feel this way about collaring?

If you're a dedicated submissive and you're that deep into BDSM then you should take a step back.
BDSM is always supposed to make you comfortable even in times of humiliation, punishment or any activities.
Rethink it as many times as you want. Serious Doms don't take these things lightly. It is a serious commitment.

Personally it doesn't really mean anything special to me because I'm mainly a primal. But, it's a very big deal to a lot of people. I don't think you're weird at all (other than the weirdness of being part of the community!) for feeling like this. I'd say it's normal.

For me, it's not a big deal at all to wear a collar. I like wearing them, but doesn't make a huge difference. Just a bit of extra effort to look cute/sexy for him
