@nazgol So interesting to hear, from another woman! I have to imagine that a pap smear, and the yearly exam is analogous to a man having a prostrate exam, maybe? Everyone said it was HORRIBLE, and HUMILIATING, and TERRIBLE. The first, was a woman doctor, and she was so careful, so nice, and said everything she was going to do, and it wasn't any big deal!! I wouldn't do it every day, but she took her time, but it never hurt, and didn't feel at all bad. It seems that so much of sooooooo many people's experiences, are just with the SPECIFIC doctor that they see!!

I have been VERY impressed with EVERY female doctor I have seen, as they take the time to listen, and they HEAR YOU, and they act on what you say, and don't just give you pills and kick you out for the next one, like most male docs. Women doctors seem to understand the "bedside manner" and they make you feel more comfortable, even giving you REALLY BAD news! The short time I was in the hospital, the female nurses were the best, followed closely by the obviously gay guys!! Both care about your comfort, and will talk with you, and make sure you are feeling OK, or offer solutions to make you feel better, like more pillows, or maybe ginger ale, for nausea, instead of pills! They take the time!! Bless them, and LOVE them, for their efforts!!

@jamie05rhs OK, whatever you feel best with. I just think you might be missing out on some of the Medical BEST, being afraid to have women as your doctors or nurses. I would pick them, every day of the week, and twice on Sunday, as the saying goes, because of my experience with them during a really difficult time.
