My girlfriend has been on her period for more than 2 months, maybe past 3. It’s seriously effecting my desire and sex. I’ve had this happen before where she got the implant for contraception and she basically spotted for a year. I’ve never seen someone have this kind of reaction to contraceptions. Most people I know completely stop having periods. For my girlfriend, it eliminates the cramps but she still has her monthly period or nonstop period. She likes the contraceptions just for that. Any advice?
Hi I'm a registered nurse and I can't diagnose or treat your girlfriend but I can pass along some advice from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists (ACOG) about breakthrough bleeding. It would be best for her to see an Ob/gyn as there are some different choices. https://www.acog.org/womens-health/experts-and-stories/the-latest/what-you-should-know-about-breakthrough-bleeding-with-birth-control
In the link the last section labled "Your ob-gyn can help" talks about some medications that can be prescribed with implants , IUDs etcs that are causing breakthrough bleeding, that can possilby even things out.
0 0 0 0She did IUD which caused her to have spotting for a full year before it was removed. The depo shot caused her to skip some periods and then bleed for months straight. I haven’t heard of any medications to prevent bleeding and I keep hearing every girl is different.
I think that is normal for some birth controls but maybe she should see her doctors if it's bothering her

1 1She should see a gynecologist concerning the problem.
0 0 0 0My advice would be to get a vasectomy. Spotting is a very common side effect for the implant and it happened to me…. I was constantly bleeding for about a year and a half when I got the implant, then I had it removed.
0 0 0 0She likes contraception because it removes her cramps.
I doubt constantly bleeding is preferable for a year is preferable to a few days of cramps once a month… I guess the real question is do you want to be with her because of who she is or because you get to fuck her?
Honestly I don’t want to be with her. She cheated on me in the past and begged me to take her back. I’ve been trying to get rid of her for over a year.
