I think I've had about 10 in total. One was my high school boyfriend. I had two other guys I dated in college. Then there was my ex-husband. After my ex husband I had 3 guys I just hooked up with, I had two other BFs after that. Then there's my fiance I have right now.
They've all been men.

There are more women than men, but that's primarily because women live longer than men. There are vastly more elderly women than men. There are actually more men born than women. On the other hand, there's some tendency for men to date down in age so if you have a growing population, the female cohort a male cohort is facing may be close in size.

In general as a group men have had more partners, because gay men have more partners than hetero couples or lesbian women. But if you look at straight couples, the averages are very very close, as I think you've deduced: every time a man has a new female partner, a woman has a new male partner.

That said there's good reason to think the 'median' or typical woman has slightly more partners than the typical male. The reason for that is we know there's a small subset of men who are VERY promiscuous and have a massive number of partners. There are some women with a lot of partners, but they don't seem to get as high as the male 'players'. Since there's a group of men with an extremely high number of partners, that must be offset by other men having less partners than the average woman.

I think women have more sexual partners, at least here in New York. I recently met a girl who asked me what my body count was, and she called me a liar when I said 5. and then she wouldn't reveal her number because she said "You wouldn't see me the same" She was right, after that statement I knew her number was much higher.
I dont judge people on their past when they are honest about it, and no longer feel shame because they have repented for it. If they feel shame, it means they know it was wrong and want to continue that behavior
