How many sexual partners do you need to have in a year to be labeles as promiscuous?

I had this talk with a colleague recently. It is part of our job to ask how many sexual partners a woman has had in her lifetime and he pointed out that most of them only take into consideration relationships and not casual sex or one night stands. (Btw if you want to be accurate even just foreplay without penetration should be counted for)
So he continued by saying that many women are not telling the truth because they are afraid of judgment (which is not our job) and that the average woman can have 5-6 sexual partners per year and it would be completely ok... 🤷‍♀️
You will hear many different opinions on this, but I would advise you to sit and think for a moment. Does it really matter? Withing reasonable numbers, does it make a difference if she had 3 or 5?

Mind ya, he was talking about women For guys it could be up to 8 and still be acceptable (according to the same person) I wouldn't say that you are promiscuous. Not for having 3 partners. Whether some people like it or not we all have needs. Men and women alike. And sometimes they are purely sexual and have nothing to do with relationships or romantic feelings... hormones can be badasses like this. They don't care if you are in a relationship or not.

I’m genuinely shocked you weren’t instead shamed for having such a low number. Usually it’s always us vagina-havers getting slut-shamed for our sex partner list.

After my divorce in my early 20s, I had sex with about fifteen people in the span of a year. I don’t regret any of it at all. I definitely found out what I like & don’t like & that I’m 100% bisexual. There’s no more curiosity in regards to my sexual orientation.

I am in your same position. I lost my virginity at the age of 27 years old. Since I lost my virginity 5 years ago I have had 9 sexual partners. One of those partners was a 2 year relationship. So if you think about it I have been single for just 3 years and have had 8 sexual partners.

Like you I average around 3 sexual partners per year. People have been labeling me on GAG as a playboy or manwhore. But I honestly don't know what is normal either.

When I say sexual partners I am talking about full on penis in vagina. The numbers dont count kissing or anything less than intercourse.

I don't think a year is a good amount of time to make that determination since you could've just had 3 night stands in a week which in my opinion would make a person promiscuous or you could've just dated 3 different people that eventually led to sex which I think does not make someone promiscuous. I don't think it's the number, but the reasons you do it and how ok you are with casual sex. You could've had 6 partners instead of 3 that were not casual and meant something, and someone could've had only one hookup that happened literally 20mins after meeting someone. To me that person would be way more promiscuous.

If a person has 2 or more sexual partners outside a committed relationship I would consider that promiscuous. (I say 2 instead of 1 because that 1 could have just been an out-of-character mistake & everybody deserves a second chance.)

It's not just how many in a year, but also, how many total. I have no idea how many it takes to be promiscuous. That's probably up to each individual, what they understand to be promiscuous.
