How much of the whole “male protective” thing is just attraction?

tbh i’ve never had a guy i wasn’t related to care about my well being without later turning out to be into me and i’ve had lots of guys who were at one point protective of me stop giving a shit about me once they realized it wasn’t going to turn into anything

  • Uhh i mean if by “protective” you mean the need to defend a woman physically or from being harassed? Then that goes for all women. Any guy raised right defends women and children 100 times more then other men.

My brother just knocked a guy out cold after he hit him over the head with a football in our rec league 2 weeks ago. At no point did anyone need to go step in, my little bro is a man and can fight a mans way. But had it been a man hitting a female? Then you better believe me an my bros are gonna hurt that guy badly. If a “man” hits a female he isn't even a male anymore, just evil and to be destroyed.

If you mean protective as in like watching over you and being protective in a friendship sorta way? Then yeah thats only if she is interested in romance, otherwise i got better things to do then he involved on a personal basis. Exceptions go to biological sisters of course.

  • I used to fantasize being the one to take a bullet for a women. Not anymore. I thought the idea of taking a bullet for a woman would be something I’d feel heroic doing. Now I feel like I’d just have done it as if I wanted to commit suicide. Didn’t do it for her. Did it for myself. That’s my attitude now if I were to

  • I'm very protective over all my female friends and I have zero intention with any of them. I see myself as more if a big brother to them.

  • Some of it. More of it is traditional chivalry. I hold the door for old women, etc.

  • The majority of it is attraction, unless the guy knows you personally. A lot of guys get protective of their female friends, but most guys also want to sleep with their female friends.

  • You are the woman you’ll have to tell us

    • missed a word lol. i meant protective “instinct” like on the guys end how much does it only apply to girls they’re into vs actually caring about as a person

    • Women are totally different

  • I think we have to love the person we're protecting

  • 100%

  • Men protect women instinctively

Even the ones we don’t know and will never see again.

  • People usually try to protect someone they care about or love, not strangers.

    • yes to clarify i’m talking about male friends mostly

    • I guess it depends on how close of friends you are for them to care.
