How often is it really the man with the fertility issue?

I'm engaged for 5 months now. Prior to it, we were trying conceive for nearly 3 years and nothing. I had myself checked, several tests ran on me and even seen 2 different doctors (a 2nd opinion just in case) but I'm a normal fertile 27 year-old, good egg count and they found no reason why I can't get pregnant. They suggested that perhaps my fiance needs to get checked.

He has his appointment set up for Wednesday. How often is this the case? The woman is a normal fertile woman and it was really the man with the issue the whole time.

Superb Opinion
  • It can happen, turns out I couldn't have kids, so it was hard being in a long term relationship.
As I got older most women had kids and didn't or couldn't have anymore kids.
Not sure what the percentage is, but women's plumbing is a lot more complex than a guys, so there are more chances that something could go wrong.

Most Helpful Guy

  • Not sure how common but I expect a lot of men not willing to accept it being suggested they could be the one with a fertility issue due to "Macho" reasons!

Most Helpful Girl

  • I think its 30-40% of the time it's the guy that has issues with his sperm count. a lot of people put the blame on the women for fertility issues when that just isn't the case.
