It depends on if it is trapped when it wants to come erect.

E. g. if it is hooked somehow e. g. it is jammed down to one side or the other it can be extremely uncomfortable if it wants to come erect. It is restricted to sit can't and it can really hurt, especially if you cannot readjust it or move it to a better angle.

Generally when I dress I make sure to already point it upward (!) in case it happens. Happened a lot as a teenager, I'm older now so it happens less but it still does happen! You can generally avoid discomfort by just pointing it up when pulling on your underwear, just in case. Then it just kind of grows up toward your belly if you become excited instead of sticking visibly out. (Sometimes an erection CAN be completely beyond your control and happen incredibly quickly.)

Zippers don't matter, they can be a danger when you go to urinate and get the foreskin caught in them! Horrible... otherwise they are only a problem if you unzipped to masturbate, a zipper's edges can scrape on the sides of your erect penis if you masturbate like that. As a teen I sometimes did that out of sheer horniness (stick my penis out through my opened zipper and masturbating it) but it can sometimes badly "malfunction" if the metal scrapes the sides of your erect penis. Better to take your pants down completely.

The underwear is protection from the zipper. The cock goes to the right or left, depending on which way it is trained, when it becomes erect and is not close to the zipper. It presses against the pocket area of the pants.

It's not as uncomfortable as you would think, honestly. It can be an issue, depending on the direction it's pointed, but for the most part, we can adjust it, so that it's more tolerable.

Having a boner, itself, is the worst part, because we want to DO something about it, but we probably can't, at that point. The actual comfort level of it's positioning is less of an issue, because that can be fixed.

Depends where you are and what you are wearing... If you're somewhere in public, and you're wearing pants or somethinf tight, It will be very uncomfortable until you adjust it, but you don't have to worry about someone seeing your boner and getting embarassed. If you're wearing something loose, the disconfort will be minimal but you can't really do anything about the appearance... It's pushing on your clothea and there is no way to hide it... One thing someone else mentioned already, is the fact that you can't really do what you want at the moment... If you're in public you can't just pull it out and masturbate... But if you're home, alone or with someone you're comforttable seeing your boner it's ok...

It's not uncomfortable unless the erection gets "trapped" where it's not able to point up like it wants to. And zippers in pants are covered with fabric so they really aren't a problem. The only way they're a problem is if you accidentally catch you dick in the zipper when you're zipping up. Ouch. (But I can't even remember the last time I did that.)
