I am a 22 year old female teacher and I have a major crush on one of my 18 year old students, how common is this?

I feel extremely attracted to this 1 male student (let's call him Guy). I feel emotionally and physically attracted to Guy and I fantasize about him in more ways than one. I know I can't act on any of these feelings (I do love my paycheck and my job) but does this happen? Is this somewhat "normal" if I saw him at a pub (if I didn't know him) I would definitely try and initiate something without thinking twice about it. I really just want to know if any teacher or student has experienced this type of situation and how did you deal with it?

  • A lot of times people meet somebody who they are really attracted to, but it's the wrong time in one or the other's life. The wrong time as in it will fuck up your life or cause more problems than it's worth. If you are talking about a high school student, then have some common sense, stop thinking with your vagina, and think with your brain. Now is not the time for that. You will not go to jail, but you will get fired and never teach again. Don't be stupid. You can contact him when he's no longer a student at that school. If you are talking about a college student, I would still wait till he is not in your class.

  • You are both 18 + what is the problem? You must be teaching college, or is he a slow learner at 18 and still in high school? What would be the problem with you fucking him? I don't' see it!

    People here telling you not to 'act' on it" Why not? If he were a minor, that would be a problem, but he is not. Two 'Adults' having consensual sex, is not a moral, legal, ethical problem.
    This is not as a 30-year-old high school teacher fucking a 17-year-old junior that you were instructing.

  • 22 year old teachers are not common.

    I'm curious how you managed to earn a bachelor’s degree, choose an Educator Preparation Program (EPP), pass the teaching tests, apply for and receive your teaching certificate, and get a teaching job by age 22?

    • My sister got her bachelor's at 21 and if I graduate by 4 years I will too because we have late birthdays past August. She might also be a student teacher who sometimes teach by themselves when the teacher assigned to that room has to be out for a meeting or other reasons. It was common at my old schools to see at least one teacher who was around 22/23.

    • I wondered that too, but still gave her/him an answer. They are both 'adults' (if this is a true account) and, as such what they do off campus is no bodies business. I doubt this is a true situation.

  • It's one thing to be attracted to someone, but another to let yourself fantasize about him (only making this worse for yourself). In my opinion, you're his teacher, so students are off limits end of story. Shouldn't even entertain the idea in your head. It's no different that in the workplace or any other situation (say your boss had a crush on you). You have to stay professional.

    It's not "normal", in that it's "ok" no. Does it happen, apparently (just in the news even), and more so these days with teachers being so much younger. When I went to school there was NO 22 year old teachers, ever lol. I don't think any in their 30's even. This might be why? lol

  • When he is not your student anymore then he will be flattered that a TEACHER likes him you are similar age and he is adult so not bad. Initiating at a pub because of looks might make you look trashy to some men though
