It sound to me that you are comfortable with your lover and he is comfortable with you.

You are able to vocalize your desires. This could be because you are assertive or because you are at ease with your partner. It could be a commination of both.

I would say the majority of compassionate men want to please their lady and want to know what she prefers.

Besides it isn't very enjoyable when a lover chooses to do whatever they like when the other is openly communicating what they do or do not like.

Of course it is perfectly acceptable to request to try something new but it is not kind to ignore your partner if they are openly expressing what they need at the moment.

If both are feeling differently at the moment then it is important to express themselves respectfully and come up with a compromise.
