I ran a virus check with what I think is the windows 11 new update and everything seems okay. I've been depressed and afraid for 2 days now and I'm literally crying. I always have tape on my cam and this time I forgot. Have you ever done this and will I be okay?
From what I've been told and what I've read over the the years, even if you've been hacked (usually a trojan horse that's hidden within sketchy emails attachments or cracked software), the hackers would still have had to activate it just at the right time, as you were doing your private business... or they would have to be willing to waste large amounts of space on their hard-drives to film you continuously, only to have to go through countless hours of useless boring stuff before getting something interesting (if they're lucky) all the while risking to be discovered by you. Most of the videos they manage to get probably exist just because they lucked out, turning it on at just about the right time.
Is there a light that switches on when the camera is recording? It's apparently almost impossible for a hacker to be able to activate a camera secretely with the recording light disabled. So, if you have a light and it wasn't on, you're fine.
Also, you said that your antivirus was up-to-date and it didn't find anything. Something like a camera-hacking program would have been spotted by an up-to-date antivirus.

Yes. I wouldn't worry about it. My previous message was very detailed but in a nutshell, your antivirus scanned your computer and didn't find anything. If something sketchy had been there, it would have been found.
The tape has become more of a ‘habit’ that is copied when people see it on friend’s PC’s. Most camera’s have a so called tally light that goes on when the camera is active. Yes, there are _some_ camera’s where you can reprogram or disable the tally light but all together the chance is very low, you ran a virus check, you did not see a tally light and you stopped after 4 minutes. Please stop worrying, it’s not worth it.

It should be fine. Hackers can access the cam when the computer is in. However the likliehood that a hacker accessed your cam at that exact time and recorded it is virtually 0. I would say the likliehood of you winning the PowerBall jackpot is higher. FYI, nobody plays the lottery expecting to actually win.
