If a girl has irregular cycles and not on birth control, is the sex risky everytime?

I dont plan to be sexually active again for awhile but my cycles have always been irregular and I've relied on condoms and pull out and didn't get pregnant but i feel like i risked it each time still but gonna go on birth control soon just to be safe.

  • Never never rely on the pull out system LOL I mean if it works one time it might not work the next time it all depends on how potent the guy is the pull-out system is a 50/50 deal either 50% you're going to get pregnant or 50% you're not going to get pregnant but it's pure luck if you don't have the money or if you're not financially secure to have a child you should always make sure the guy wears a condom no matter how much a guy tells you he likes you when he finds out that you're pregnant the odds are he's going to walk away from you especially if he's a when I stand or someone new in your life because they are not ready for a child and they're going to do everything in their power to get out of it just remember if you're going to have sex you are the boss of your own body nobody else's you have to make choices for the both of you and if the guy cannot work on them then you should tell him he can't put his dick in you because I'm sure you're not ready for a baby yet because then it becomes all your responsibility

  • I hope you consult with an ObGyn first...

as birth control can also help you with your irregular periods and also if they're extremely or more painful than the "usual"

a consultation with a professional is ALWAYS the best to go

other than that, sex is always going to be more or less risk, but there is always risk... so this is more the reason to and see a professional

    • Yes my OBGYN is aware i will be going on birth control, it is one i was on previously actually. In all honesty it made my periods less heavy and painful just at first is an adjustment to my body.

    • then that is good, and it should be enough... if you want to be even more sure, you can combine the three methods... the birth pills with either the condoms or going by the cycle (pull out) remember that condoms also protect you from possible STD's

  • If your cycle is irregular than you’re less likely to get pregnant, which makes pulling out or condoms more effective but yeah…. the risk is always there because you don’t know when you might ovulate.

    • I have hypothyroidism which does conflict to those irregular cycles so thats why i gotta go back on the pill to help that.

  • Yes it is.

  • To be honest, you've probably got issues in your ovaries or uterus. Not saying its cancer, but could be cysts or just an infection.

Having irregular periods constantly is a sign of bad problems, and not something to be ignored.

    • I have hypothyroidism so that's why

    • I get papsmeared once a year and was recently checked i know i am fine there but hypothyroidism which is a thyroid disease most common in women can irregulate cycles too unfortunately

  • Pretty risky, yeah.

  • it's worth getting on birth control. I had a partner that had hypothyroidism, but she always skipped periods being on the pill and even when swapping to Mirena IUD.

  • Yes, and pretty much no woman has on the dot perfect cycle timing every month, they are almost all slightly irregular to very irregular.

  • Unless she uses an iud or condoms sex is ALWAYS risky

  • pull out method is always risky, one tiny drop of semen and hey

    • Very true.

  • If you don't know when you're ovulating and having sex, I would classify that as risky.

  • Very risky

  • yes it is
