If a partner has syphilis are you guaranteed to have it?

A sex partner of mine from three months ago came to me with the news that he had tested positive for Syphilis. I am in utter shock and disbelief, as we have had unprotected sex in the last year. I am going to get tested on Monday, and want to know if there’s a chance that I don’t have it?

Superb Opinion
  • More and likely yes when there is direct exposure and contact to the place where syphilis is located. Since this was 3 months ago, it should be long enough to show on the test. Has less to do about it being guaranteed. More to do with the fact that you put yourself at risk. Syphilis is caused by oral sex from the exposed area. Or even anal.

  • Not inherently, no. You have to have specific tests to determine that.

    • You got it in the ass didn't you I definitely can mess with you because your account is deactivated

Most Helpful Guys

  • He might have contracted it in the last 3 months since you had seen him last. But definitely get tested as you are going to do anyway. Since you are anonymous let us know how it turned out!

  • It's possible either way. The good news is that it's curable with antibiotics, but if you test positive, you'll need to let any other partners know as well.

  • There's a chance you don't but safe to get tested anyways

  • What do mean guaranteed? You either contracted it or not. Otherwise there would be no point in testing.

  • Ohh god bless you. When you take the resoult you can edit post, so we are worrying about your health

  • Pretty much yes

  • Depends wether or not he contracted it before or after you had sex with him.

  • More than likely, get tested.
