If birth control were more readily available and free or practically, do you think there would be less abortions?

Birth control can be somewhat expensive, depending on how much sex you have. If you could get it for free or practically free, would you use it?

  • Maybe but, there's still women that didn't know having a baby was gonna be life-threatening until AFTER they got knocked up; like with my ex-fiance. I WISH we would've kept that baby but, it would've either killed her or the baby!

    • I suppose that's more like a miscarriage than an abortion because an abortion is when you never wanted a baby and you remove it as soon as you fall pregnant.

    • @Bridgettebaeb01 Yeah, well, she had to get an abortion to be able to stay alive. She was only about 2 months in, if that, when her Dr. told her the bad news. She'd already had a stillborn a few years before I met her and that was a nightmare for her!! Having to walk around for the last few months with a dead baby inside of her!!

    • @FunkyMonkee I am sorry you had to go through this tragedy 😔. I am also sad for your girlfriend's experience with trying to be a Mom. Just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and this experience that went so wrong 💔

  • Maybe.. On that same token, my wife's birth control before insurance, costs 3 dollars per month. If you can't afford 3 dollars per. Month you should not be having sex

  • My girlfriend is 57 and post-menopausal. Birth control is not an issue for us.

  • Yes, of course.

  • Nothing is free, but yes.

    • In some places birth control is supplied for free.

    • @Bridgettebaeb01 It's a rule of economics. Nothing man-made is free. Somebody, somewhere pays for it. In this case, probably taxpayers.

  • I worked in a K-12 school system. There was a basket full of condoms in the nurse's office free for the taking. I imagine if a girl wanted birth control pills she could get them for free.

  • No I don't. Just because it's available doesn't mean it'll get used or there would be errors

  • Yes that’s a researched fact.

  • I think no

  • Here's the real issue for you:
It is readily available condoms are in
supermarkets, petrol stations, chemists, the doctors, online like ebay, etc.
and if it is not available to people it's probably because they are mentally ill because there is no age limit when it comes to purchasing condoms so teens can't use that excuse to those who dont want kids maybe that's a sign they shouldn't be having sex in the first place if they believe protection is as they quote "not available".

  • I think so, it would offer more options than over the counter stuff like condoms that can break or tear, some of the more effective forms like implants and IUDs can be very pricey without insurance coverage.
