If guys experiment with other guys, does that make them gay?

I was just wondering because I have a friend who did that and people were calling him gay.

  • ultimately, it comes down to whatever you choose to identify as. he may be bisexual, he might be gay, he might still be trying to figure things out and falls somewhere between those.
basically, sexual orientation can be seen as a kind of spectrum, at one end entirely heterosexual and at the other entirely homosexual. pretty much everyone falls somewhere within that, rather than at the entirely hetero/homosexual. so, you know, it's wrong to try to put a label on someone for just trying something out.
and regardless, why does it concern you? it's his life, not yours.

    • No I'm not judging him in trying to keep him from getting bullied

    • Because he's my friend

    • well, kudos to you for being a good friend. i really wish we as a society would move past bullying people over sexual orientation, and using 'gay' as an insult, though, but seems like that's not going to happen anytime soon. people are probably going to talk, and there's really not any way to change their mind, unfortunately. just be a good support system for your friend, man.

  • If he's attracted to guys and enjoys being with them, he's not straight. But he could be lots of other things i think it depends on how he feels and how he defines himself. So he might be gay, bisexual, pan-sexual, poly-sexual, or maybe he's just questioning. It doesn't matter what other people say because most of them don't know him, so they can't know for sure. It's best to just ask him.
Personally i think that if he were gay, he probably has known for a while and wouldn't call it experimenting. But i don't know the dude, so yeah can't say for sure.

    • What's pan sexual and poly sexual?

    • pan just means all and poly means many. So a pan-sexual believes sexuality is fluid and doesn't have a binary or basically doesn't believe in labels like gay/straight. And poly-sexual just means they like all genders so they use labels but are into everyone.

    • That's not what pansexual and polysexual. Pansexual means to be attracted to ALL genders which means they don't pay attention to gender at all when pursuing romantic interest. Polysexual is to be attracted to MANY genders, but not all.

  • No. Decidedly not. He could still be heterosexual, but just want to experiment. And even if he were attracted to guys, he could still be bisexual, pansexual, etc. Also there's the distinction between sexual and romantic orientation, which can confuse a lot of people. He might still be heteroromantic, but just not heterosexual. Basically, no. He isn't gay unless he is actually attracted to men and only to men.

  • Partially. Yes.

If you experiment, it's because "you want to", if you "want to", then you are.

A straight person will not experiment just to make sure, (you just know, no tests needed). If you do, you're at the very least bisexual.. but not heterosexual.

  • No. However, there's really no point in experimenting. Sexual orientation is fixed. If you don't get a boner for naked dudes you never will.

    • Uhh what's a boner?

    • In the united states, it's the most widely used term for an erection.

    • Oh boner is another word for a hard on then?

  • It's makes said guy, at the very least... bicurious

    • So he's curious but not bi?

    • Curious as in he either wants to experiment, or has experimented with the same gender sexually. If said person wasn't into it, then said person was bicurious, but not bicurious anymore (as in the "curiosity " is over). P. S. keep in mind your sexuality is your private business; you're not obligated to tell anybody anything about your sexuality. :-P

  • In my opinion, no. People should experiment to me, so they're 100% sure of what they really want

  • Hell yes it does. If you build a fence, you are a fence builder. If you. fly a plane, you are a pilot. Sounds like this dude has some flight hours... He is a pilot. If you have sex you are np longer a virgin right? Well, he can no longer claim to be a homosexuality virgin, bi at least.

    • Ok honestly a builder and a pilot have nothing to do with my question

  • I think it does

  • Do you desire having sex with men? If so yes, mere activity may not necessarily mean you're gay, but if you desire it, it would.

  • I experimented with a guy (without even realizing it at the time), and I'm not gay.

    • How could you not realize that

    • Because I was stupid.

    • No u were probably just curious at the time
