If it was totally normal to walk around completely naked in public do you think there’d be less sexual crime or more?

If it was just normal for everyone to walk around in the nude, how much different would that world be?

this was actually normal to be nude or partially nude for certain Native American tribes in California back in their history https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2018/3/8/1747210/-Indians-101-Southern-California-Indian-Clothing

I’m more going for imagining a timeline where it was always normal to be naked in public rather than our current one where clothes is the norm. What do you think that timeline would be like?

people aren't understanding that this is a hypothetical question. its not linked to our reality so saying "that would never happen in our society" misses the point entirely. just fyi.

Superb Opinion

  • There would be more. Because even if being make it is completely legal, i'm pretty sure like majority like 95% of people would still wear clothes because of weather and hygiene. Also because not everyone still feel safe without clothes. So yes if there are people running around naked, of course it's supposed to turn people on is because what they see most of the time are also people wearing clothes despite nudity being legal. What if the rapist is for example, most of the times, the girl he sees wearing nothing is not attractive to him. Those beautiful girls for him tends to wear clothes so what he does is he undresses those what he thinks who are hot. If she feels uncomfortable being naked and that would be considered as sexual crime to undress her.

    • Well sure if it were a thing now in our current timeline that may happen but I’m just trying to imagine a timeline where it was always totally normal to go out nude in public.

    • It's very unlikely because even if it's going to be normal, like what i said probably like 95% will still wear clothes. Another reason why is because we don't have thick fur like animals have

    • Unless you want to force people to go naked just to make it normal. That would be considered as sexual crime itself and it's hypocritical.

  • I take acute interest in pondering over such questions and probabilities. I feel that more the nudity, more relaxing the culture. Abundance and commonality takes away charm and attraction, as in tribes where nudity was prevalent without any "shame" concept.

    • some people here just don't get that

    • Yeah! But one can't control their viewpoint. Any change take considerable time to achieve general acceptance level. Nude beaches and nude families are prominent examples. We all know that in Victorian age English nobility would wrap legs of tables and chairs presuming it gave "obscene" look. And now, obscenity concept had greatly changed.

    • Thanks for MHG.

  • I don't think it would matter either way... Rape and sexual assault isn't about how much or little a person wears... Those with mental sexual illnesses aren't going to be cured or go away if clothes do..

  • probably the same amount just less bs excuses or new bs we haven't heard yet

  • It would be normal strange to people from other societies. But because it has become a norm you’d barely notice a difference.

  • It would be fun and liberating

  • With the unfortunate levels of poor Mental Health in today's society, there would be more crime

If the only difference between your hypothetical situation and reality is the clothing, then all that's done is eliminate a few steps.

  • I'm not sure🤔

  • I think less as people would probably get sick and disgusted of seeing other naked people.

  • Anything that becomes easier to do, will make that thing raise in the amount of people who can do it. Now what can happen will happen so let's say even if 0.01% saw this as more convenient way to do it and did it.. then that's more.

  • Definetly more.

    • How so?

  • Sexual assault isn't about sex, it is about control and violence.

    • ok... so no effect then is your answer?

    • yes. no effect.

  • Really all you'd be doing is just making sexual assault and rape easier and further encourage creeps to do what they do.

  • I really really wish it was possible tbh n yess i believe there would be less crimes of sexual nature

  • probably less. from a purely scientific point of view, without going into details. its obvious why

  • It depends on where you live.
I guess there might be some towns where it would be nice to see people with their kit off.
Where I live I'd rather go voluntarily blind than see the obese floppy privates dragging around like two-week-old custard in leaking out of an old sock.

  • i am convinced, that the normalization of "unsexual" nudity will reduce the amount of sexual deviance and perversion.

    • Also because there will be a lot of normalized sexual crimes which is actually an oxymoron

    • @Aiko_E_Lara stop being pretentious. where is the oxymoron. show me you're understanding the words that you use.

    • "normalized crime" that is the oxymoron. Do you not see how that contradict each other?

  • I don't know. I think it would be similar. Sex crime is usually about power over another human being not just some person feeling horny. Also if we got so used to everyone being naked then it would be just as normal as us having clothes was before.

  • Unless you want humans to live like animals then go ahead.

    • im sure the native americans who lived naked their whole lives were also thought of as animals too...

    • That time was way different the world we live in today and there’s no comparison between the two that’s why.

    • right well i was getting at imagining an alternate timeline where being nude is and always was normal and not sexualized. what do you think that world would be like?

  • Far less. Go to any nudist beach or colony. You don't see any sexual assault. Why? Because wackos don't go to these things. They're into power and control. They would have none in either.

  • Good question. That's difficult to say, but generally I'd have to say less sexual crime. Just my opinion, and no intellectual thoughts or ideas to back it up. What do you think?

  • I'll go with Less because it's the clothes that make some people look good. If you're too skinny or fat and walk around nude this might be a turn off for some people😊

  • Probably the same amount.

  • Less
