Is a condom alone really safe enough?

I don't know how you use one properly and would hope the guy knows that. But I am also not on the pill for reasons not important now.
I wouls be absolutely terrified becoming pregnant without intention so I am also afraid of relying on condoms alone.
I mean does it even stay in place?
They say it's effective if used correctly. What is correctly and do you guys know that? I get really anxious thinking about that. what is your experience?

  • Stick to well-known brands as they have a reputation they want to uphold. Avoid budget brands, you might as well wrap him in cling film. Simply squeeze the nipple at the end closed and roll it all the way down. Don't give him a blowjob as you risk nicking it with your teeth.

  • There are other things you can use. Implants (I have one), Depo shot, IUD. Maybe none of those are suitable for your needs. Worth a thought.

    • Yeah but doesn't work for diseases. And I think the pill would be less invasive then.

    • Copper IUD might be ok. No hormones.

  • In a perfect world, yes, but human error is a huge variable. Because of that the actual effectiveness percentage of condoms alone is about 85%. I prefer more effective methods, I. e. IUD's and implants.

  • If you have sex regularly you should be on the pill. No questions. Add a condom and you should be fine.

    • Some don't do well with hormones.

    • Find another way. Or be a single mom.

    • Yeah sure. Let me just invent a new contraceptive method real quick.

  • I use them every time and they have not let me down and I have great orgasms with them.

  • All contraceptives are about 99.9% safe.
Using condoms INcorectly would be to handle it with long finger nails, storing it to warm or to cold or under direct sunlight, also having it in your wallet can damage it.

  • It can but stranger things have happened. Make sure you have enough money for an abortion or Plan B pills.

    • The pill does only work one day after. How would I know it that early if I didn't notice anything going wrong? The thought of abortion disgusts me but I would not be able to have a child now and in the near future.

  • smfh….. you're kidding, right? tell me you're a troll

  • it is normally considered the safest method, but if you are worried they make spermicide that you can use that will further decrease the chances of pregnancy

    • I have read spermicid attacks the material of condoms? That sounds rather counterproductive.

    • I didn't know that, but it would still kill the sperm

  • Brand condom, yes it is
