  • I think it depends on the circumstance. Like in the US I don't see selective service as anything but a tool to deprive men of federal and state services if you don't sign up for it, and I was in the Marines.

If instead say you're in S. Korea or something where all young men are expected to serve, or a country that has compulsory enlistment because of a war that threatens its existence, then yes, that is cowardly.

If there is so little faith in your country surviving, or the justification of military service, then flee and become an expatriate. I wouldn't call you a coward then, but principled, like I don't understand pacifists, but respect that they hold that belief.

    • I'm a bit too... dark to be a South Korean.

    • In my country military service is still compulsory, to avoid it I said I was a transgender woman told this lie, but because of my lie I am really forced to become a woman. Because my government (I'm Turkish) didn't just make my statement but ask me to start a transition. Either I tell them I lied and go to prison, or I accept the consequences of my lie and become a woman.

    • Hey, Baron, you related to Ronnie?

  • Not necessarily, but he is dumb. Either it won't work and he'll have to join military anyway, or it will work and the government will think he is trans when he is not (governments are famously not very fond of trans people).

Personally I live in a country where this would not work. I cannot sign up for the draft no matter what I do.

  • No, but if he’s not doing it because he really feels female it’s a mistake. Is this based on a true story?

    • In my country military service is still compulsory, to avoid it I said I was a transgender woman

    • Oh ok. I don’t think you were a coward, but you still shouldn’t say you’re transgender unless you really feel that way.

    • I told this lie, but because of my lie I am really forced to become a woman. Because my government (I'm Turkish) didn't just make my statement but ask me to start a transition. Either I tell them I lied and go to prison, or I accept the consequences of my lie and become a woman. I decided to become a woman.

  • Absolutely 1000% a coward that should be tried for treason.

  • I mean, maybe.

Personally, I wouldn't join the military. Being sent to the meatgrinder, for a country that literally fucks me over with every policy. With no freedom of speech, no freedom to protest. And just opens the floodgates to immigrants so housing is expensive as fuck. Fuck that.

  • He's insane

  • Just move to Canada!

  • Not a coward... dumb. Both men and women are in the military now.

    • No, im turkish

  • He's a fool. If he feels that strongly why not register as a conscientious objector? Cutting your balls off seems like mental illness to me

  • Likely won't matter as women are likely to be drafted soon anyways. Equal rights and all that.

  • how is it going with u

    been a while

    • How are you?

    • im fine just wondering how the transition been going

    • The transition is going well, but so far the hormones haven't had much effect. But the doctors have told me that everything is okay. You know, I never should have told that stupid lie.

  • Are women who don't transition to men so they can fight cowards?

  • Yes, it's also funny kinda funny tho lol

    • Or fake your death

    • Emingrate but not to the US

  • Yes.

  • If he did it to avoid... Yeah, definitely.. LOL..

    • Damn, should've just became a soldier.. Now you gotta embarrass yourself even further by actually transitioning.. LOL.. Sorry to hear that..

  • Not necessarily. Survival instincts are kicking in. Are we shaming those, that try to defy being chosen by darwinism or being sent to a meatgrinder?

    • Ted Nugent didn't change his sex, but he escaped being drafted for possible Vietnam War service by crapping himself and not shaving or showering so the military would think him mentally ill, which he is.

    • @handsomelad70 That's one way to avoid being sent to war

  • Until they learn that women now have to sign up for the draft as well. Equal rights, equal responsibility.

But people in general aren't joining the military because who the hell wants to get sent to a desert to fight for someone else's country? Especially a country where the whole population hates you. Then only to return home to be called baby killers by your neighbors, given no real benifits and assistance from the government, and told "too bad, so sad" when you have to pay in to taxes.

    Screw that.

    • Women STILL do not have to register for selective service in the US. Men do.

    • Oh so that bill didn't pass... interesting. In any case my statement stands.

  • That sounds extreme. I wouldn't call it coword. I would call it stupid.

  • I was born a male and I'm going to stay a male.

    I'm a female trapped in a male's body. 💞

  • He's smart. Why should he risk his life to fight for a cause he doesn't believe in. But surely, there are other ways to avoid military service then something as extreme as changing your gender

  • What if he lived in a totalitarian society and was drafted to fight in a war he did not believe in?
