Is being LGBT really just a trend?
I believe that it is a trend for many people who are band-wagoners, who just may not know for sure where their predilections lie at the present time. They may shuck the LGBT label later in life. Who knows? That's OK. I am in no position to tell anyone anything about themselves unless it is to point out untruths.
There have always been people who legitimately could and can claim such descriptors for themselves. Today's social climate allows for those who might have previously been closeted their entire lives to be more open about it. I'm one of those who is open about myself when need be, or as I so desire without infringing on the rights of others.
The too-far-reaching aspect of the same current social climate occurs when those who think that their experiences, situations, and feelings must be trotted out for all the world to see, and further, must be introduced to children so they can determine their own labels. That's BS. Little boys and girls are just that, little boys and girls. That's not a trend. It's criminal.

I can't help but think a portion of it is. People who want to be seen and heard, who want to be a part of a community, and just want attention.. So they hop on the bandwagon to get it.
I've met gay people who have nothing to do with LGBT, and I've met LGBT members who are hyper sensitive and will jump down your throat at the slightest provocation. Those interactions are what make me wonder.0 0 0 0

How would it even be a trend?
u can't be "Oh being lgbt would be cool" and just do it. That's not how it works. Like do u rlly think u could just decide to become gay, for the lols, and u would become gay? Or a gay person could just be like "nah I'm tired of this" & suddenly become straight? Or a trans person? Fuck do u rlly think if someone could just say "I don't think this is cool anymore" & stop being trans, that they would not just do that?
2 1 0 0hmmm... It could be because it's trend-Y right now to openly express interest in experimentation and some level of acceptance of varied sexualities and gender expressions.
This doesn't mean that this occurs among all groups, especially among conservatives and conservative Christians, and, in particular, areas around the country: especially the Old South, and Midwest.0 1 0 0

10 26No of course not. Is being straight or cis a trend? There's nothing trendy about being lgbt. You just are or you're not.

@MenAreGreat not really, they just say they are gay when you ask them out.
Unfortunately, there IS a big push for this lately. You really can't see it? Now if you really are gay lesbian or what have you, enjoy your life, but something is off in terms of the way this is reported by media.
No, no it's not. Being gay isn't any more temporary than being straight.
0 1 0 0LGB not forcefully. The T, most likely.
I think that the LGB activism should take a stance and distance themselves from the T part. The T are just riding on the wagon of LGB acceptance.
0 0 0 0No; people's orientation is their orientation. There IS a component of the way it's handled that makes calling yourself gay (or what have you) a matter of trendiness; but that doesn't mean there's nothing behind ANY of it.
