Is condom enough to protect against pregnancy?

It is a little late now for me to take birth control pills because they must be taken at the first day of the periods or if I take them outside of my periods time I need to wait 7 days for them to be effective. Also, I have taken them before and they messed up my health and I got many many pimples that injured all my face...

So I wanted to know if condoms are enough to protect against pregnancy. Because the last thing I want right now, is being pregnant...

  • A proper fitting condom does work very well. Before I got married I was lucky enough to have had a lot of sex with a lot of great girls and I always used a condom and never had any pregnancy scares or STDs.

Just make sure it fits the guy well (not too big so it slips off) also make sure there is some spare room at the tip for his cum. Also have him withdraw from you fairly soon after sex if he starts getting soft cause you don't want the condom to fall off. Good for you for protecting yourself. What does your boyfriend think?

Also maybe consider an IUD if BC pills don't work well with your body?

  • I'm 45 and only had 1 condom fail and that did not break it just slipped off because the girl had been constantly squirting for 30 mins.

    So they are pretty solid.
I even tried porting massage oil into a condom and left it suspended to see if it broke down like they say they do but all it did was stretch probably weakened it but did not break.. I wouldn't trust using it at that point.

    • Thank you that reassured me. Were your partner/partners using any other contraceptive method? Or you were only using condom?

    • I assume she was on the pill I never got a message saying I was a dad and she wasn't paniked in any way when it happened

  • I used them for 11 years never got pregnant or had any break during sex while using condoms... mind you if not put on properly or you use an old/damaged one yes it could break and you could get pregnant, just always check it when you two are done, if it breaks just get a Plan B pill and you will be good.

  • No form of contraception is 100% reliable but most come close and are better than hoping he pulls out

  • If you're REALLY worried, then relying on more than one form greatly improves your odds- and if you avoid PIV (or SIV, I guess), then it's a certainty.

  • Nothing is 100% effective but it's definitely better than nothing

  • They are pretty effective if used properly. One recommendation is to use them with contraceptive foam. Breakage is very uncommon, but the guy can withdraw for a few seconds before finishing just to make sure everything is intact, and then continue on.

  • Condoms prevent minivans.

  • You could use condoms with a spermacidal jelly to increase the safety.

    • Is there side effects of using it?

  • Nothing is a 100%. St johns wort contradicts with oral. Condoms can break.

  • They certainly do a pretty great job.

  • Looking it up, it says condoms are 98% effective if you use them correctly. I feel like I’ve heard lower percentages before though so I don’t know.
I know certain forms of birth control are also around 98-99% effective.

Maybe look into getting a different form of birth control besides the pills if you don’t trust condoms enough

  • If you check the condom after the act, that is enough for warranting no pregnancy.

In the rare event there's something wrong with the condom, take the morning after pill.

Also if you use thinner condoms, choose a high quality brand or they may break.

But even if they did, if the guy hasn't cum yet, it won't matter.

  • Latex condom, yes. Natural latex condom: no

    • Lamb skin condoms: *no

  • I don't think so

  • Can also additionally take the pill. Also there is still the possibilty of abortion

  • As long as it is a proper fit all is okay.

  • Condom is not enough, sometimes condom may leak or break during sex so take extra measures to avoid pregnancy

  • As long as it don't break

  • They’re pretty effective. The only thing that can go wrong is if it breaks while he’s cumming.
