No. It was practiced seriously by people who were, say, in positions of power: kings, queens etc.

Unfortunately, it achieved the opposite of what they wanted. Keeping a bloodline pure means you weaken it over generations. Continual intermarrying among very close relatives brings out the worst combinations of genetic maladies, as was evidenced by the 15th Century Hapsburg house of Spain. The Hapsburg "jaw," and their final son who was severely mentally disabled, infertile and of course could produce no further Hapsburgs.

That family ended because brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and every combination kept intermarrying and the gene pool never got fresh genes to ameliorate genetic anomalies that crop up with intermarriage of relatives that are too close genetically.

In essence there is NOTHING morally wrong with incest. It has been made a social and moral No-no because of families who ONLY intermarry, exacerbating genetic anomalies. Modern knowledge is that marrying first cousins and beyond is safe and in most U. S. states there is no proscription against marrying first cousins.

But biologically speaking, marrying people who are complete strangers, meaning someone with fewer than 6 percent of genes that are similar to yours is the best outcome of mixing genetics. And anyway, do you want to partner with someone who knows all your secrets from the get go?

I had a discussion about this with a cop and he told me it happens more than people realise. The problem is because of the stigma attached, particularly if children are born of it, it tends to get hushed up to protect the victims.

It's very much real. Humans can very well be attracted by their relatives and in some cases I can see why. It wouldn't even be such an issue if mixing genetics from the same bloodline wouldn't bring deformities, both physical and mental to the newborns.

The religious teachings put it on the black list because of God things, but that was just a way to explain to the greatly ignorant populace of the times that you shouldn't do that because it brings about serious issues, which are now explained through science and accessible by everyone.

So yeah, away from it being rather cringy, incest is a serious threat for the wellbeing of the eventual offsprings. Thus made taboo.

It is real though not extremely common. It's one of those dirty secrets that people prefer not to talk about when it happens. Two of my aunts molested me when I was young. One was unpleasant and the other was not. Neither were appropriate but both aunts were minors at the time so I forgive them. Incest was decriminalized in Rhode Island some years ago so a lot of people move their so they can legally have sex with their siblings, parents etc.

I'm sure it happens but its popularity in porn is mostly because it's a major taboo. Plus there's so many other taboo subjects in porn that the incest thing is one of the only new directions porn can take anymore

Incest is very real. Royal families of Europe had a reputation of having incestuous marriage, in an attempt to keep their bloodline "pure". In today;s world, incest is a huge taboo because of all the ill-effects of a child born to incest parents. But people today have condoms and birth control pills, so they can have incest sex only for the fun part.

I just recently heard where these two grown adult brother & sister were having sex and they were facing charges and I do believe people heard about them and it got out in the open and they were charged by the police also stuff happens in families that shouldn't me and my sister shared a bedroom clear up to age 12/13 I regret it that is all I will say

Incest is real. The closer your blood ties are to the person the higher chance a genetic mishap will happen with the kid. Second cousins are okay. Siblings have the highest chance of a mishap.
