It is something you can do, as long as you both are on the same page that it is just a friends with benefits thing.
This kind of thing WILL change the structure of your friendship, it won't be the same and you also have to take into consideration that, if you get a relationship, You will have to stop that friends with benefits behaviour with the person and who knows what kind of friendship you may have after that or if you both go your separate ways.
It will complicate things, people tend to do the friends with benefits thing if both are single and horny but can't find a relationship or don't want a proper relationship, which is all well and good till you change your mind, you just need to think clearly what kind of friendship you want, a sexual one or a one that doesn't revolve around sexual interaction, because after you do it once, things will definitely become very different between you both.

Yes most people refer that as “friends with benefits” lol. You can do it, but just be aware of the risks. I personally can never do that with a friend, they’re my friend for a reason and I dislike risking friendships even by dating friends in the past since it’s usually never the same.
