Thank you for your answer I'm referring more to the age at which the spanking occurs, rather than the punishment itself. As far as the current generation of children goes, the majority of parents tend to frown upon the aspect of spanking being an appropriate punishment, understandably som 20 or so years ago, spanking was much less controversial, and prior to that it was more common than not. That said, it occured, more often than not, in young children, however, much before puberty took place. When puberty takes place, the bottom and other areas of the body begin to develop. At 14 most girls have gone through, or are going through puberty. This is much different than spanking an 8 year old child... As a young child I accepted spanking as a punishment as that is what my parents administered as discipline. That said. At 14 I felt that my rear end, along with the other parts of my body were private. I knew about sex and other aspects at this age as well. I said to my father I'm too old and he argued he had every right to spank me until 19 (legal age). I feel this is downright wrong.

A developing child's body becomes personal when they hit puberty, in my opinion. Prior to puberty, your body has not yet developed and it is normal for both the mother and father to see the child naked.
