Superb Opinion

  • The medical term for painful intercourse is dyspareunia. It does occur for reasons that range from structural problems to psychological concerns.

There are multiple reasons why such a pain can occur. Among them

    - Not sufficient lubrication.
    - Injury, trauma or irritation.
    - Inflammation, infection or skin disorder.
    - Vaginismus (involuntary spasms of the muscles of the vaginal wall).
    - A problem present at birth such as not having a fully formed vagina (vaginal agenesis).

Whatever the cause, this person should consult her gynecologist to determine the cause of her pain. While not every woman suffers from pain during intercourse, a number of women do occasionally suffer from that condition.
