Because when you are alone with anyone you cannot guarantee your safely. I went on a date with a girl years ago, we had drinks in the hotel bar, we got on really well and at the end of the evening decided to get a room. When we got to the room she excused herself to the bathroom to freshen up and told me to get undressed on the bed. I happily obliged obviously, then a moment later I heard the door go, she had let three guys in and she left, they proceeded to beat the living crap out of me and rob me.
