From what I've read, it is believed that when most people orgasm, part of the chemical reaction that happens in the brain helps form strong emotional bonds with your partner. If I remember correctly it has something to do with how the chemical reaction takes place in the parts of the brain associated with memory, feelings of love and emotional attachment, and the fact that it releases a ton of dopamine, which happens to be what can cause addiction.

I remember that it used to be thought that only women have this reaction, but I think it was recently discussed that anyone can have this reaction and that the misconception came from the fact that either most men wouldn't admit to it or that these studies were previously only focused on women

Yes. The idea is known in both psychology and religion. It's not something that sex education touches on because it doesn't fit with the ideology being forced down kids' throats that sexual experimentation is "normal".
