Is it weird to want to wait for marriage if you're not religious?

I'm a virgin and I want to be married one day and I've kinda wanted to wait for marriage for sex. I don't want to lose my virginity to someone I won't marry. When I tell people I'm waiting they always ask if I am religious, does it make sense to wait if you're not religious?

  • It's not weird, they may see it out of the current norm though, where people don't want to wait till marriage to have sex. So they assume that only religious people would be willing to go to that extent.

  • no it is not... Put a ring on it... is a very common saying. there is a reason for it, "Why buy a cow, if the milkm is free" is another (can you tell I'm 70? lol)

  • Not at all, its becoming less common, but it is still practiced by many guys and girls, religious or not.

  • Why wait if there is no reason to wait? The value of virginity come from religious beliefs. Even those who are not religious gain their values of virginity from religious pass downs.
But virginity is valued by many today, so if that is your desire, it is not weird.

  • I think it's cool what you are doing I love that you feel that way and you choose to be that person. It means you believe in something so beautiful so strong and you take the pain in some ways to become it you are a wise smart beautiful person we all need a friend like you in our lives to remind us who is real and well just a lot of things I would love to ask you a few question if you want you can't send me a private message if I can ask you

  • Yeah, you wait and then the guy you finally have sex with is terrible at sex and you live life unsatisfied.

    • Unsatisfied if you never say or do anything about it 🙂 I will not be afraid to say something.

    • If someone is lousy at sex there isn't much you can do.

    • Of course there is.

  • It makes no sense but that’s no reason not to do something. Very little of what we do actually makes sense. We’re a bunch of sissies with big tree trunks up our assholes, wobbling about the place trying not to let other people see through us into our weak little minds to reveal those dirty emotions we hide, clambering over mountains to avoid swimming through lakes, God forbid that when we surface our clothing will be see-through. We’re a bunch of losers, tying these weird things around our necks before we pick up our briefcases and commute to work, and yet we don’t call them nooses? If we weren’t so flammable and precariously perched at the mercy of gravity maybe we would smile once in a while and not feel terrified that someone might think us in love or a pedophile. Or even worse, normal.

  • Not all morality comes from religion. Each person has to decide what is best for them, and when and if they have sex.

  • Nowadays it's weird even if you are doing it for religious purposes. Personally I think it's okay to have sex with someone special to you even if you're not gonna be with them forever.

  • Nope. You do you.

  • It's a scam religious is scam

  • It's weird either way. But yeah, it's even weirder when you're not religious.

  • It's a personal choice. It has nothing to do with religion.

  • Im not religious but if realized I don’t wanna have sex again until I’m certain the girl is forever

  • It's rare to want to wait if there's no religious component to your decision

  • well, marriage makes sense if you believe in either the church or the state. so, yes and no

  • That’s a personal choice, there’s not a correct answer.
When you are ready, then do it.

  • It makes sense, you’re waiting for the person you want to spend your life with, it’s very honorable. Although most people don’t practice that these days because they want to make sure the person they end up with is also sexually compatible with them.

  • No, not weird at all. You got your preferences, that's all.

People ask if you are religious, because waiting till marriage is often something that religious people do

  • Not weird but I highly recc getting some experience. You dont buy a car without test driving it

    • Ew i hate when people say that. People aren't cars and you can check things out without going all the way

    • Lol I suppose 🤷‍♂️

  • Yes it is, many people are waiting and are not religious

  • It's not weird at all, but I don't think it's wise.
