Is my view of transgenderism correct?

Gender and sex have been synonymous until the transgender community found a voice. They use to denote whether someone had an X chromosome or Y. Now they changed the definition of gender to be subjective. All descriptors (Male, her, man...) are now only applicable to gender, not sex. I believe this change of definitions is why there is backlash against the community. I believe transgenderism to be a genetic phenomena that can be described by several genes on several chromosomal loci that affects identity (neurobiology).

What I do not get and what I think only a transgender person can tell me is "what is the difference between a female-to-male person and a tomboy girl who appreciates masculine stereotypes?"

Also, taking hormones blocks/activates some, not most, genes relating to sex. "Sex linked traits". This makes them appear similar to the other sex but does not completely change the sex. They would be a sex hybrid as not all their bio functions are changed (menstruation and other, more subtle processes).

Also, being transgender has nothing to do with sexuality (Attraction, not X, Y chromosomes)

  • no. gender even in zoology can refer to behavoirs, not biological sex.

you can even observe this in pets. female dogs will start humping things and if you keep 2 female rabbits, one will start humping the other. "humping" is a male gender expression, so even animals in some cases are fluid with that.

gender always had the double meaning of "sex related behavioral pattern" and "biological sex" but it still can be seen as mostly synonmymous, cause in the vast majority of cases, biological sex and sex related beavioral patterns lign up.

the reason we get so confused with the behavior patterns these days is: that our human survival strategy and prevalent family and upkeep structures have shifted a lot in recent years.

  • Since the days of written history, mankind's thoughts are more based on observations than pure science.

For example: the sun rises from the East (Fact: earth rotates round the sun)

The moon is bigger than all the stars (fact: all stars we see are like our sun, even bigger)

Hence babies born with a vagina are girls (female) while those with a penis are boys (male).

There are many "in-between" nowadays. Including Trans. Without prejudice, if we stick to 4000 or more years of written history, and use the languages since then, male=penis owner at birth; female=vagina owner at birth.

I think I'll stick to the same definition so that I'll not need to face the same headache as you. What say you?

    • Splendid. Then the next rumble of thunder, I presume we forego consulting the forecast reports from any meteorologists, and instead just assume we've angered some god or other and run quick to snatch the nearest virgin we can find to chuck into a volcano. I love it. It's quick, it's easy, and only requires effort that is reactionary rather than getting all tangled up in all those in betweens that always come with progress and learning stuff. Such a drag. I'm yanking your chain! LOL. I get where you are coming from. Things are getting way more complicated these days. Next thing you know, definitions are getting tangled up like earbuds. Some people are cool with it, I guess, but a good many of the rest of us ain't so cool with just accepting things by how they just want to be known and what they self-identify as, just accepting all these new words and stuff that we already AREN'T what they want to be defined as. We AIN'T into all that confusion and complication and redefining the meaning of everything. If some folks seem to get all hot about it right quick, I think it's somewhat understandable how they would come to have that reaction. I mean even just the plain pronoun business you keep hearing about, and how some people want to be spoken of in the plural and called THEM or whatever. It keeps getting pushed as something that we'll get used to real quick and won't be confusing to people at all. Personally, I don't believe that, but that's what they say..

  • Okay and? If someone suffers from gender dysphoria and requires transition to maintain a quality of life they have the right to do so. Just because they do not change sexes on a biological level doesn't mean they cannot live their lives socially as the opposite sex. Being transgender isn't something anyone wants. Ideally they'd be born in the bodies they feel they are.

The concept of sex and gender has always been slightly different otherwise there wouldn't be two words for it.

    • I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. I was just wondering if it is objectively correct.

    • There's nothing correct or incorrect about it. It's simply is. It's something that happens, there's no right or wrong to that.

    • Also there are numerous synonyms in the dictionary. 10 years ago I believe sex and gender denoted the chromosomes. Only 90% sure tho

  • Trans is not genetic; it is often a reaction to a childhood sexual trauma.

    • I wouldn't think that is the case. Do you know of a survey or article that explains it?

    • Also there is strong evidence that sexuality is genetic. Not proven though. I assumed most things like transgenderism are

    • I know it is in my case and my uncle's case; as sexual abuse is also common in my family.
