I've been wondering if owning male sex toys is an unusual thing as I have 2 sitting in my dresser drawer.

Owning a flAshlight isn't weird; I'd call it more like "obligatory". Owning a flEshlight, which I think is what you meant, IS less common; I don't think it's exactly RARE, but guys don't usually talk to each other about that sort of thing (not the kind who talk to me, at least). Even if it has dissipated somewhat, the stigma's still there, though: I don't think you need to get rid of them, but I wouldn't bring them up (and would probably keep them hidden) to a date. Most sexual things aren't really first-date material, anyway.
No. Owning a flashlight is not weird by any means. I have several flashlights. They are good in case of an emergency. If the power goes out, much handier to have one of those than to be digging for a candle and matches.
Just make sure you keep the batteries fresh and have spares for backup in case your flashlight goes dead. What I am not understanding is the sexual reference to make to flashlights.
I suppose they could be used as a sex toy if you made some sort of pornographic shadow puppets with them. I’d advise against that though. Seems like a waste of batteries for when you actually need a flashlight in an emergency.
Best to use them for real problems and not for making homemade shadow porn I would think. Also, by the way, no need to get rid of them if you start dating. A girl will appreciate the fact that you are prepared for all situations.

If you look at how prevalent male sex toys are in the adult store retail space, you will know it is not unusual at all.
If you google "how many men use sex toys" many of the hits show surveys with 45-50% - so roughly every other guy uses one...
All that said, if I were to find out only 1 in 10,000 guys use them... I would still use mine because I enjoy them :)
