Is this humor too extreme?

I’m part of an infantry company, so our humor is rather dark

We love fighting
Drinking (not me)
Partying (not me)

Examples:
-“I’ll rape your mommy, slit that whore’s throat, cut off her big tits and wear them as goggles, drink her blood, and then drown you in it.”

My buddy said this to me

I laughed and said something quite worse.

To us this is perfectly normal.

The military tend to deal with the darker side of life and at times only really dark humour cuts through enough to get a response.

Obviously there is humour and American humor..

A lot of forces humour is there to make you think WTF and also it’s often fucking hysterical.

other areas such as nurses and doctors have that dark humour as well.

As I’m currently picking up Admin comments I won’t make any jokes, rare for me but civilians rarely find military dark humour palatable, they tend to be a bit lightweight tbh.

A lot is also very much situational and works at that moment in time.

There is however always someone that will go one joke to far, then it’s tumbleweed city and the entire area is a dead zone.

Yep, agree military humor can be dark and quite cutting. More often than not it's not relatable to most full-time civilians. It seems to be more noticeable in garrison with soldiers having way too much time on their hands, and it's all good as long as the job gets done when it counts.

It’s highly unlikely that we’d not get along. I try to get along with everyone, in other words, I make a conscious effort in being friendly and accommodating. It’s just me. A lot of people aren’t like this.

Kinda, but then again as long as you and your friend both find it funny I guess its okay? Then again it would be preferable to not say this kind of jokes in public, especially if you're talking loudly, since not everyone would appreciate this type of humor.

Okay so funny story We were in public eating once time and one of my friends was describing one time he had a cream pie dessert overseas. A literal dessert But then another buddy of mine was like “cream pie?” out loud and then I was like “wait? What kind of cream pie?” out loud. Soon enough, our group was all on board with this joke.

Not surprising for an infantry company in garrison tanked up on beer, pizza and gas station sushi. It's all fun and games until the weekend is over and Monday morning PT rolls around, then it isn't pretty.
