I don't think the statement is true. Not in terms of what I believe (I'm not telling folks what they should and shouldn't do with their sexuality) but I think it does matter to a lot of people whether someone is a virgin, not just why (in fact, the why is probably irrelevant).

Yes, devotion to God is admirable. So if that is your reason for keeping your virginity, that is definitely a plus.
However, even if you're a different religion or agnostic or atheist, if you are practicing abstinence on principle, it is still just as admirable.
But if you're trying to get fucked and you just haven't found a boy to do it with, then you're just as bad and you make me sick.
... BUT if you're undecided and you're just trying to figure things out and you haven't decided what route to take yet, then I can work with that, as long as you are open to the idea of waiting for marriage.

I think that it is false. Unless you are going to become a monk or a nun and take a lifelong vow of celibacy, the why isn't as important. Just like washing your hands after going to the bathroom. I don't care why people do it; I just care that they do do it. Also, society puts too much emphasis on sex over the actual relationship. This imbalance is what leads to incels and women that think soaking is not losing your virginity.
