Just watched the season Spartacus and I want to ask that how open do you think were earlier generations in regards to sexuality and same sex etc?

I heard my brother praising this drama so i just finished watching the drama Spartacus and my first reaction to those times is this that it was very brutal, cruel and unjust society and times.
But also what i liked about those times is this that if you take out slavery then it was a time of boldness openness and no body would object to your sexuality (if you are in to same sex, straight or like it in groups) nobody objected the way everyone would dress and nobody bothered where one was getting intimate at.
What's your take on this? Would you like to be in that era if possible? Or its much better that its not possible to have those practices anymore and you are happy to be part of what we have nowadays?

Thanks for your opinions and time.

  • I just dont understand how people got so uptight about sex cause everybody loves to do it so why be afraid to say it

    • Yea you are right

    • That 98% of the time I am lol

    • hehe great then

  • I think I would have fitted in well as a Roman senator

    • 😊😊😁

  • while its true ancient Greeks and Romans were a little more open about sex and stuff like that, but its a tv show. most of that never happened and they did it because sex sells

    • Well maybe

  • WOW! This is a HUGE Q!

So, I'll start with this. I think the key thing to realize and accept about those times, was that one could die in any number of ways, EVERY DAY! I'm NOT referring to war or battle or even crime!
I'm talking about insect, snake or animal bites or injuries. Or for example, accidentally eating poison, like the wrong mushrooms. Or worse, accidentally cutting yourself while gardening and contracting tetanus or a whole host of killer illnesses or diseases like the common cold!

Just regular life and daily living was BRUTAL. Death or permanent incapacity waited around every corner, doctors and medicine were often either primitive, unproven or toxic, if not deadly. There were no hospitals, no police, and ineffective justice often perverted by priests, religions or powerful men, like kings.

Death as a constant daily threat in its numerous forms has a way of sharpening one's mind.

    • Yup all that is true and really dangerous as well But even with all that there was still some positives about the time, isn't it

    • Absolutely! For very little air, noise or land pollution. More flora and fauna, including megafauna! Full four seasons unhindered by our interference!

    • Hmmm

    • Hehe yup it is

  • Very open... And also Spartacus is my all time favorite

    • Yup i loved it too

  • I loved open relationship concept in early ages, those guys really enjoyed so much sex and quality sex as well. The testosterone levels were so high and mahn they were very kinky and horny. Look at the dick sizes in Spartacus, they are strong, hard, massive and long to fuck for hours.

    • Oh yesssss... thatswhy i sooooooo wish those times could come back

    • Absolutely, weren't the men hot there and women so sexy in the web series?

    • Oh yess definitely

  • It's one of my favourite series.. I love the strength of the army and way they fight every battle.. damn the women of their culture actually knew what's pleasure

    • N thats exactly why i wish i was in those times so free n no tabboos

    • Taboos like?

    • Like incest

  • That Era sounds hot lol

    • So hot and so free and interesting

  • I came for the boobs. :D But I disagree with the portrayals of these time period pieces. Sure, people had some freaky deaky sex sometimes, but it wasn't as constant and as open as they show on tv. Prostitutes would still get thrown in jail, and "orgy" type stuff was permissible for the elites only. A lot of people did settle their differences with a fight to the death, but depending where you were at, it was still a crime. Not always just done openly in the streets. They over show this type of stuff on tv now for the shock value and to keep people's attention. Not for the historical accuracy.

    • Well thanks for coming anyways lol And they say its a true story and the depict to near real situations and customs I even spoke to my brother coz he was praising it a lot and he also said that things get exaggerated on tv but it was close to reality though
