Ladies: do your leg muscles ever cramp up before you orgasm?

Ladies: During the build up to an orgasm, do your legs muscles ever contract so hard that it is actually physically uncomfortable? This happens to me sometimes, generally building up to a bigger orgasm, and I have to push through the discomfort to climax. I started wondering if (a) this is a common thing; and (b) if this has anything to do with why so many women having a hard time reaching orgasm

  • my girlfriend experiences them. men can experience it too. cramps occur when muscles are contracting and relaxing. when one muscle contracts the other must relax otherwise they cramp up. exertion of muscles, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance most often lead to these muscles being unable to function correctly.

so if you're having sex and begin orgasming 1. you are working your muscles (not just in your pelvis but throughout your body 2. the water and blood in your body will flow to the most active and aroused part of your body dehydrating other parts 3. the chemical balances (including electrolytes) shift and vary greatly during an orgasm.

I don't think it has much to do with women not being able to reach an orgasm.

To avoid cramps, stretch, hydrate and try to regulate breath (steady breaths) during sex

    • Actually after reading the answers I'm pretty sure it IS one of the reasons some women have a hard time orgasming.

  • My legs have done that on a few occasions. I find it happens to me when my muscles are outstretched or not in use. They cramp up and it's painful to the point it steals away my orgasm. It never happens to me when my legs are being used such as in doggy or some play-off of a held missionary position.

  • Yeah, it usually happens to me quite a bit. But, I actually get cramps in my legs quite a bit, even when I don't. So, I always just figured it's due to whatever problem is causing other cramps. It definitely makes it harder to reach one, so I tend to just stop right before my leg would start cramping. Kind of puts a damper on it, but, ah well.

  • Well, I don't get cramps, but I feel the nerves and muscles on my thigh all the was to the knees tensing and relaxing involuntarily. Its so weird, cause I can't control but its even visible... Its actually a little embarassing. :P

    But no cramps, or pain.

  • Yes!

It usually happens in my right leg, particularly on the backside and upper thigh.

I think it's because (for me) my body tenses up as I orgasm and I'm essentially 'paralyzed' and it's not until after orgasm that I become numb and shaky

  • It's happened to me once or twice, from tensing up. It hurt really bad and I had to stop lol. But I wouldn't say it's common for me at all.

  • Yes it happens from time to time.

  • Yes! And in my hips. They really do hurt sometimes D:

  • Proper stretching and hydration beforehand should help!

  • Yeah it happened once and it hurt really bad, my calf muscle's cramped up. Have your partner massage your cramps away. Nothing to do with letting go and orgasms..hehehe

    • What do you mean nothing to do with orgasms? Your calf cramp wasn't related to an orgasm? Because that's what I was asking about specifically. Not just if you've ever had a muscle cramp.

    • Yeah mussel cramps come from your diet I think anyway that's what I've been told. Nothing to do with orgasums... hehehe

    • I don't think you and I are talking about the same things. I'm not talking about random muscle cramps. I'm talking about muscle cramps caused specifically by tensing up during orgasm.
