Definitely their absolute dogshit personalities.

As a subset of that, it's their impossible standards combined within their utter hatred of women.
Most incels refuse to even consider a woman if she's not movie-star levels of attractive, yet they take every opportunity they can to complain about how women are evil.

Combine THAT with the fact that they think they are owed sex. When r/incel was still up I used to peruse it just to see the kind of garbage they thought. One of the most common talking points? That the government should lobotomize women and then hand them out to men to use as they see fit.

They actually lost r/incel because they got way too into helping a dude plan out how to castrate his roommate because the roommate had a girlfriend.

Incels are sad, pathetic, hateful men. The incel mindset should be considered a mental disorder.

Supply and demand, marketplace flooded with options.
Dating apps objectify humans into stats and scorecards, with filters that narrow down options into only one's 'ideal' preferred.
Women in equal numbers in the workplace.
More independence and lack of necessity.
Global population shifted for first time to majority in densely populated urban centres.
Late marriage age by both couples.
Lower birth rates by choice...
All adds up to more choice, more options, and a self-satisfying society that allows for supreme customization, individuality, on-demand everything, and pickiness because "I deserve more, not settling!"
