No. LGBTQ is not a choice, and not a luxury.
There are many LGBTQ people who live in the developing world. Unfortunately for many of them, it is not safe to be open, and in some cases it is punishable by death or jail.
In the "developed" world, where we have more widespread human rights, LGBTQ people can be more open. But in places where it is still dangerous, many of us have to hide for our own safety.
Even for those of us in developed countries, it can hardly be described as a "luxury".
You forget. It was just over 50 years - within your parents' lifetime - that Stonewall happened. Gay rights in the US and Canada are still being fought for.
Pride is a protest, and will continue to be a protest alongside a celebration.
It doesn't even take going back too far in "developed" countries to find LGBTQ people who had to pretend they were straight or who faced great odds to openly be themselves.0 1 1 3well it's more being OPENLY lgbt+ is quite a privilege that's seen in MOSTLY developed countries
0 0 0 0Is being openly heterosexual also a privilege?
@slatyb well yeah because heterosexuality has always been the norm in every country for centuries, plus people don't usually feel the need to be 'openly' straight because it's normalised anyways

I am not surprised by this. According to my religious beliefs, I believe man is born evil by nature. I think most people would say man is basically good. I think man is evil.
When you have people who are are spiritually dead due to original sin, and their natural state is to be in opposition to God and commit sin, then the less effort and time they must spend on the necessities, the more time they will have to indulge in sin. As tech increases, making life easier less effort and time are required to complete the mundane tasks that are the necessities of life, leaving more time and energy to sin with.
As it’s been said, idle hands are the devils play things.0 1 0 0You still get hanged or imprisoned for being LGBTQ in many countries. Its a "luxury" to be born in countries and at a time where you can openly express your sexuality.

0 0 0 0I don’t think it has anything to do with being rich, it’s just that first world countries are more accepting while LGBT+ in other countries need to hide who they are

I mean a country having money is part of what makes them a 1st world country lol
I believe what makes a country 1st world is that it's industrialized & capitalistic. Later on people realized that 1st world isn't specific enough to compare countries to each other so they came up with the human development index (or somesuch) which assigns percentages to strengths in various areas like medical care, housing, jobs and so on.
The modern LGBTA movement is a government power grab taking advantage of people who feel insecure and using them as meat shields. It is no friend to the people it claims to help and support.
