I think there's a lot of truth there. The problem is it's phrased in a way to be a cute saying.
But, if you think about it, what it's really saying (and it's true for guys and girls) is that unless a person WANTS to stay in a relationship, they won't. And that quote is attaching various things to it like sex and looks and babies and what not. But, again unless the person wants the relationship, those things don't necessarily matter.
