It might be a little unusual, but there's nothing wrong with it. I know many people, men and women who masturbate a lot more than that. It might be a problem if it is an addiction though. If he cannot go without, then he may have a problem. But as long as he knows how to control himself, and as long as you and him still have a healthy sex like, it should be fine. Maybe ask him not to talk about it so much if it bothers you though. Or maybe you could try to get into it, like watching him and masturbating together and such. It may be that his sex drive is heightened via testosterone levels (morning glory) or just plain addiction (could he be exaggerating?).
