My friend says it is because of racism. Is it?

Me and my best friend created a nsfw Twitter both at the same time - last month. Starting both at at zero she now is at 798 followers while I'm at 480. We take the same exact pictures wearing almost the same lingerie. I'm black and she is white and her pictures get way more likes than mine. We have a similar body type, both are hourglass she has a tiny bit bigger tits than me. So she gets the likes but I get way more dms daily. Like her pics get 200 likes and I receive 50/80 messages a day.

We were chatting and shared that with the other friend who said I don't get people to engage with me publicly because I'm black and most guys in America don't want others to know, they dm me because I'm more of a fetish thing while my best friend is the type of woman they wouldn't mind be seen with.

From a guy's perspective, how true is this?

  • I imagine there are some guys who may not be comfortable with having a black girlfriend or whatever if they think their family and friends would behave oddly. I wouldn't mind, but sure, some guys would.

However I don't buy the theory that guys are worried about who they are seen to be liking on only fans.

Generally speaking the followers could be partly based on race, but i think less 'what people think' and more just that while some people have a fetish for other races, some people don't care, and some like their own. In an 'internet' market where most 'buyers' are white, that helps, on average, white sellers, i'd guess. The fact you get more messages then her though is interesting. As I said, i don't buy that it's because of them being proud to follow a white only fans and hiding a black one.

It's possible that she is more 'generically' appealing to a lot of guys, while you have a more 'exotic' look which attracts LESS guys but they guys who are interested are MORE interested.

  • I can't and won't speak for any other males. That said, I find the female body to be exciting, sensual, intriguing, and alluring. I don't care what color that body is. The pussy is pink on the inside for all ladies.

  • I suspect there's an element of racism or at least racial preference involved. I'm not sure it's racism when one has racial preferences related to sex.

    • We started considering what she told us because she works with social media management you know? She has to have a reason to be saying that I feel like but again neither of us are a guy so we don't really know what goes through the majority minds

  • I don't think its racism. I don't know if its difference in appearence (since I have no idea what either of you look like), but that could be it. It also could be racial demographics i. e. maybe black men are more likely to DM and they prefer black women for this but like to oggle white women or what have you. Its possible its because some are afraid of judgment if they follow a black girl because of public perceptions (most of which is in their head), but I doubt that is the driving factor here. It could also be connections i. e. maybe some one with a bit more sway followed her and that brought others to her content. It could be that some one was more willing to share her content and again, this allowed for greater traction for her content etc.

Their are so many factors here that its highly unlikely that its "racism".

  • Well, I don't know who is the most attractive. One woman may be more attractive than another. I'd say overall... more white guys will gravitate towards the white girl... more black guys will gravitate towards the black.
I'd say the prettiest, most attractive would get the most traffic in the long run.

  • I'm lost here. Is this a popularity contest between the two of you on an open chat line, or something? If you suspect racial prejudice based on which one of you are getting a more favorable response, than what factor of this competition is racially motivated or perceived? If this factor creates a conflict of interest in some way regarding the rules of this contest, then removing that factor from the contest in a way that does not compromise the method in which people choose their favorite contestants is the obvious solution.

    • The suggestion that it was because of my skin color didn't come from me. Like I said we exposed the dilemma with the other girl, she works with social media management and that's the first and only response she gave back. We took it into consideration because afterall that's her job, she would have to know why she said what she said but I figured it wouldn't hurt to come and ask directly for the opinion of my target audience.

    • Sounds very complicated.

    • It really does.

  • Sadly this is true. Men - of most races - idolize and glorify white women, and any time you're broadcasting yourself online, more attention goes to white women than black. Even when you look at Instagram and see lots of very attractive, curvy black women, they will often have a lot less followers than white women. Hell, I've seen really average white chicks on IG have over a million followers just because the girls are bony, have tattoos, or pale skin and red hair. Until people learn to see beauty beyond white women, it unfortunately isn't going to change.

  • It is not racism.

I'm going to tell you the truth, like it or not.

White girls (and guys) are seen as far more physically attractive. Studies on dating sites have shown this. It's natural to expect white guys to find white girls most attractive, and that holds up... about 90% of white women prefer white men.

So what about black, latino, Asian, etc? White was actually the most preferred race by both men and women. For women, Asian women preferred whites even over their own race by a good majority!

Before you say "doesn't that prove racism?" No, it does not. Having a sexual preference doesn't make you a racist.

But all this media about showing minorities on the screen isn't making people more willing to date them. There's always pressure, especially amongst white women, to date outside their race from the media... like white people have to date outside their race. Why? Just let things settle where they will be.

But in your particular case, look at rich black athletes? Half of them go hard after white women. That to me says a lot... they don't even find their own race attractive (and probably themselves). The media will never say this, they will always promote interracial (usually BMWF) relationships and there will almost always be a white person in such relationships.

I do think black women, especially darker skinned ones, have it tougher when it comes to dating... probably equal to that of Asian men (both east and south Asians). Most of the dark skinned black women I see are single and have been for a while. Most of the white women I see have been in relationships for a while.

So while I do think sexual preferences overwhelmingly favor white men and women, I do not think it is racist. They have features desired by other races: light eyes, straight hair, straight nose, pale skin, etc. All the plastic surgeries like nosejobs are geared towards white noses... and the best selling colored contact lenses are blue and green. Billions are spent each year for non-white/Asian women to straighten their hair or dye them blonde.

Even black women try to get white features... I've seen this many times. Skin lightening creams are popular in stores that cater to black women. Long straight hair is expensive. I don't want to hear a an ethnic woman who says "be yourself" but has unnatural straight hair, colored contacts, skin lightening, and a nose job that looks more caucasian.

I'm not trying to sound negative, but this is what I've seen and read and studied. It is like this amonst every ethnic race. Fair and Lovely is a popular skin lightening cream in India. Nose jobs and eyejobs (forgot what they are called) are the two most popular surgeries in South Korea. Even thought most East Asian women are pretty pale, they want to be even paler! They avoid the sun like the plague and will bow down to white people.

So if you want to ask, is it racist? Let's say "yes"... but it's not by white people... it's usually by ethnic people not liking their own race.

    • Thanks for explaining your point of view with details

    • No problem... but please don't think of it as racism. I've seen a shift in ethnic minorities (both men and women) towards wanting to be with white people and trying to look like white people. I would say it is internalized hatred of their own features than white people being racist. In fact, internalized hate is a far bigger problem than white racism will ever be.

    • It is questionable. And what she said now makes so much more sense in my head.

  • Maybe your page wasn't put on the right pages that had people that wanted to follow or were interested. There are many reasons other than racism that this could be happening.

  • For the low-information folks everything is about racism. The majority of every race wants to date their own race. The US is majority white. It stands to reason there are more white Americans on any given platform. Therefore, it's normal she'd get more white guy attention than you.

    • Appreciate the quick explanation

  • It's not racist to enjoy a different skin color more then the other wtf

  • In the US, sadly that is true. Nobody bats an eye at racially identical couples.
