My GaG experience

I came to this site shortly after a break up and posted a question about porn that had everyone that loved porn upset. You'd think that I posted something about burning bibles and other sacred text from the question but no, it was simply a question about why I felt I shouldn't accept porn in my life.

One of the 'uber' mods got offended because she loved watching porn with her husband and it seemed to make her feel upset by my question which expressed that I didn't like porn. The only thing I could think of is she must've felt trashy. She lashed out, said my boyfriend would soon find a better new girl that would share his porn addiction with. After that she sent her minions after me to harass me and make the experience worse.

Since then I've realized that GaG allows that sort of harassment freely, as well as illegal posts (there is no category for that). I also quickly learned that people's comments that are offensive are never removed for certain people. My guess is those people who do the harassment, whose reported comments are left up, work for GaG.

Overall it doesn't matter, this site means nothing to me but I'd thought I'd share with you all why my experience here was pretty much horrible right from the start. I've met a few interesting people that kept me coming back but this site is extremely toxic with constant gender and racial bashing. It breeds hostility in some who constantly lash out and that's not something I want in my life. I can't say I've learned anything worth knowing from the site and it hasn't been all that entertaining for me.

It's too bad GaG doesn't allow feedback from its users, this would help it improve, instead all such posts are quickly deleted (while other offensive and illegal posts and comments are left up). I can only conclude that admin doesn't care about what goes on on its site. You'd think with the huge number of mods things would be more fair but I've heard that those mods who actually try to be fair have no real say. Pity.

  • Don't let it get you down, that's my advice. I tend to consider the psychology behind a question or comment as much if not more than the question or comment itself. I look for the person behind the sentiment. There are many trolls and false fronts on here and many statements made from bitterness and anger that are clearly not well through through. Toxicity is in unhappiness and the internet will always be plagued by a lot of unhappy people who have no idea how to deal with that unhappiness. So they vent, they spew, they hate, they troll, they do whatever.

    To use any kind of internet forum you have to either have a thick skin and an ability to see beyond the words, or you have to have a site so strictly moderated that all freedom of expression is crushed. Moderation will always be somewhat subjective, based on the ideals of the owners and the interpretation of the moderators. Too much moderation risks too much of a biased agenda defining the site and hence risks alienating half the potential user base.

    You're good people, don't let the toxicity blunt your view of the world.

But what happens here is someone with write genericname85 Master Age: 32 mho 9% 3d Just do society a favor and don't have sex with men... ... and respond and my comment is removed, that person's comment stays. No matter how many people that say it's wrong, that report it, it stays. I have no problem at all with online forums that aren't moderated at all. I've been to 4chan, voat etc. There are dark people there that I don't care for but I don't mind anything they say to me (many hate women btw) because it is FAIR. The moderation here shows malice and favoritism. Not good. My father died 3 weeks ago, I just don't need the drama in my life here.
