My Shocking Experience: How I Got Sexually Harassed And Almost Raped

My Shocking Experience: How I Got Sexually Harassed And Almost Raped

(That's the beach...)

The story begins. Me, my twin sister and my best guy friend had been planning this trip for a week or so. We were excited about it, of course.

We went to this beach, because it's the nearest one for us. It was a sunny day and everything seemed so perfect. Like nothing could ruin the day.

We had stereos, bunch of junk food -because there's McDonalds really close to the beach- and a tent!

My Shocking Experience: How I Got Sexually Harassed And Almost Raped

So we did our little camp on the top of the hill, to a place where we still could see it from the water. We had lots of fun. After few hours it started raining a bit so we just went into the tent. There were few people still swimming there. When the rain stopped, it was sunny again and the beach was completely ours.

This is the point where the trouble started...

We had seen this man, riding a bike near the beach for hours. He always stared at us. He was wearing a cap, glasses with darkened lenses and a long fishing vest.

My Shocking Experience: How I Got Sexually Harassed And Almost Raped

Nothing else. An hour before I saw him standing near the gardens which are right next to the beach. He was just standing there. We taught that he was just doing some normal stuff or something. But we didn't see properly because the grass was so long it went up to his waist and stomach.

Then it happened. There were no one except us near the beach. No hikers, no one. He came to the beach with his bike. I was sitting in the tent while others were swimming. He came about 10 meters away from me. He stared at my friend and sis. Then he just opened up the vest and started to jerk off. I asked him to stop and leave. He just continued. Then he took the vest completely off and started to walk towards me. I had a bikini top and shorts on and I had wrapped a towel around myself when he arrived. He was now about 3 meters away from me.

My guy friend noticed something was wrong. They first had thought that this was a sick joke. But no. It wasn't. My friend came towards the tent and noticed the situation. He told me to call the police. I quickly stood up and took my friend's phone (I didn't have mine with me, it has been lost for a week or so...). The man was now less then to two meters away from me... I called the cops and I noticed the man quickly left. The police was supposed to come. But they never did. I called again and they told me they had decided it wasn't the main priority at the moment. I was shocked. I was crying. We quickly packed our camp and left... It was a nightmare to me. On the way home I could still see the man staring at me when I closed my eyes...

So this was my story about what happened about a week ago.

And one last thing.

The man is 60-70 years old...

  • Glad you are okay

  • almost raped huh...

    • Haha you cracked me up mate

  • The guidelines for sexual offenses was revised with a law that came into effect 1. January 1999. With this revision, sexual offenses were divided into three levels of graveness based on how severe the act is. The three levels are rape, aggravated rape and forcing someone to a sexual act. The revision also affects the cause of action.
The sections below are translated from the Finnish Penal Code.
    Rape 1 § (27.6.2014/509)
If a person forces someone into sexual intercourse by using violence or threat of violence, the person is to be convicted for rape. The convicted should receive a jail sentence of at least one and at most six years. It is also considered rape if the assaulter takes advantage of the victim being unconscious, sick, disabled, in a state of fear or if the victim is in any other way considered unable to defend themselves or to express their consent or the lack of consent. If some of the factors above are lacking evidence, the accused should be sentenced to at least four months or at most four years in prison.

That's the law in Finland as it pertains to rape. It also has this
The Programme of Reducing Violence on Women

The action plan was prepared in cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the drafting was coordinated by the National Institute for Health and Welfare, as commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The Ministerial Working Group on Internal Security adopted the action plan in June 2010 to reduce the violence on women, and the goal of this plan is to proactively reduce violence by influencing attitudes and the ways people behave, improve the position of victims of sexual violence and the crisis assistance and support provided to them since it is recognized that these resources are in need of significant improvements.

There are three main principles to this plan. The first one is to prevent violence by developing ways in which sexual violence could be more easily detected and interfered with and by improving the level on which the authorities are aware of sexual offences. The second principle is to protect the victims and to provide support for them by training authorities to be more sensitive when interacting with a victim of a sexual assault, which would in turn make the process easier on the victim as well as increase the probability that the case will be solved.

Take this for what you will.

  • yuck.. at least he could have been hot..

  • That fucker is going to do that again. I wish the cops showed up. Anyone that's dressed funny and does nothing but ride past the same spot over and over again is up to no good.

  • Hey I'm sorry that happened :( I would have like a whole paragraph for an opinion but I'm just speechless... that must've been a traumatic, I mean it would for me... but you're ok now thank god :)

Just remember if you're going out again, bring someone with you! Who knows what could've happened if you were alone... but thankfully nothing happened and you're still your beautiful self :) ily 💜

    • Ily too <3 :) yeah it was quite traumatic

  • Holy s#! t

  • WTF... Police actually tell people in your country that they are not their priorities... holy shit, I thought police in my country was bad

    • Yeah... I hate the goverment of Finland anyways... I've had not so nice experiences with goverment. And no I did not do anything illegal.

  • What kind of joke police do you have there O. o

  • Lol. I didn't even read it

  • You are glad, that you were not alone, but I can't understand the police, and I would complain at your regular police station. There are enough witnesses

  • Hmm, at a place I used to work there was this guy who used to call to see when I worked and try to talk to me, see if he could come meet me after work etc. I kept turning him down and it got to the point that the other girls at work knew his voice when he asked for me and we would just avoid talking to him. One day I was stocking some items on the shelf and felt like someone was watching me kind of, so I went around to the other isle and this dude had his dick out still lol. He must of been jerking it or wanted to flash me not sure exactly. Was so creepy but "almost raped" is a little dramatic.

  • He's just a flasher that's why they didn't come probably. I don't mean "just" a flasher in that way like it's no big deal, but I mean they're less dangerous than proper rapists and stuff.
I remember first time that happened to me I wss like 12 and was so shocked the police didn't come too, but then after I realised why.
I think if you lived in a small place with little crime, they'd come, but if you're in a bigger place with more crime they only come if you're in real danger right now. It's sad. Guys like him should be locked up and beaten up.
One time, my brother caught one that flashed at me outside my house... good. Usually those types of men never get caught. They're too sneaky and they're used to what they're doing so know how to make a quick exit.

  • Something similar happened to tourist in an island from my region. The island is not that populated and she went to the bushes to do her needs without knowing she was going to live a nightmare : /. The creep was arrested and he lied, saying that he never did rape her, among other things. My advice, if you are gonna be alone in a public place like a beach, concert, etc.. At least have something with what you will be able to protect your self and get help or just don't keep alone, always be in company.

    • She wasn't alone and her friends where still within sight. In my opinion, this is comment is another case of "make sure you are not the victim so that someone less protected is." What I feel needs to be done, is that freaks like that need to be taken away - far far away - and teach our men/boys that is it not right to do that kind of shit to begin with. Stop putting the blame on the victim for being in the wrong place, being alone, being unprotected, or being dressed a certain way. None of that shit matters. I don't care if SHE was stark ass naked, alone, and completely unprotected. This shit should should not have happened and should not have been allowed to go un-investigated.

    • @BloncGryphous I agree with you a 100%, the case is that there will always be creeps like that and the best way to avoid been a victim is to prevent places or situations that can make you vulnerable to those creeps.

    • @BloncGryphous I totally agree with you.

  • This is why I call Scandinavian people as rapist. Low punishment system and lots of muslims. Most of the time no punisment. Even in your situation cops said to you "They had decided it wasn't the main priority at the moment. " Scandinavian people still want muslims to entering their country. I really don't want to go Scandinavia cuz of injustice system and rapist supporter people. Scandinavia is really a piece of disgusting shit.
And I am really sad on your situation. Do your job your own. Don't go police or lawyer. Say a brave man to find him and beat him badly. Or go to a police station or lawyer stuff and wait , they will give him reward.
