My kid had the fucking Sherriff at my place because he was swapping pics of some girl. It started with just some fucking cop (her Dad) saying he's officer this and that talking like I knew something about it (Good way to find himself un-alived in a dumpster).
Anyways what saved my retarded kids's ass was the fact that the girl was sending her pics to a bunch off these kids. That might not be her case, but she can easily report him and shit will go down. I'm guessing she's a minor as well... yeah.

Where does she live? How old is she? How old is the guy? Does he know that the threat/blackmail is actually a crime in many areas? In California, where I live, the threat can be treated as a misdemeanor or a felony with up to three years in state prison. actually sharing after the threat is extortion and has a mandatory sentence of two to four years. These are for adults. If she's a minor and he is over 18, he could face a lot longer of a sentence and would have to register as a sex offender for life.
Technically, she could also get in trouble, but it is generally only prosecuted if she is over 18 and he is a minor.
Gather evidence of the blackmail and take it to the police or if she’s still in school, go to the school administrator or dean.

I'd say tell the police, if she's got evidence of that message then she's got proof.
I know she made a mistake and even in tlher worst case sinario that it does get around the school and they all see it then he can't blackmail her anymore and then there more proof of who did it and it would be sent by his email and even if he send it by a different email then they can still track it to his computer or phone.
