Naked guys in public sauna? Am I overreacting?

Where I'm from it's quite common for people to visit the sauna, and I love doing it too. But the thing is, there are two separate sections - clothed and nude. Now, clothes really means towels, but there is a specifically nude sauna right beside the 'clothed' one. Their separate buildings which is the only reason I might be able to understand choosing the wrong one?

So often I walk into the communal sauna (it's the only one in town so their communal, mixed gender) and see guys just baring it all, flaunting the rules. And I don't want to sound racist but its always white guys, especially older (I'm black, I've never seen anyone else do it).

I have brought it up to some of them multiple times but the best excuse they ever have is just a shrug or launching into an argument with me about how I'm overreacting and should expect them to do this. I swear, sometimes I just want to run up and kick them in their sweaty bare balls.

Am I getting too worked up about this? I really don't think I am, there are two separate places for a reason.

  • No, you are definitely not overreacting and the only appropriate measure is to inform the owner of the sauna of these deliberately caused incidents.

It is the owner of the sauna's duty to ensure that women are not molested and sexually assaulted by displaying their genitals when they should be covered.

If it fails, you can contact the authority to have them intervene and if the owner of the sauna fails to take appropriate action, to have the sauna closed by the authorities.

There is a very specific reason why those saunas are segregated and that is to avoid that women feel harassed by males. They know very well they should cover themselves but by disobeying the rules, they directly sexually assault women.

    • I hate to cause too much fuss but I'll look into what more I can do beyond asking the guys themselves, thanks for your thoughts.

  • I go to a Russian spa like that in San Francisco. They have two areas also.

Things just happen. It will be a life long frustration.

The best advice is to just find a sauna place that is textile only and that will solve it.

    • It's the only one around where I live, so I've just had to accept it.

    • Sorry to hear that. Maybe save up and get an infrared sauna that you can have at home.

They have 2, 3 an 4 person ones.

  • People like that are always looking for a rule to bend and then will cry themselves a victim when someone enforces the spirit of the rule. I think its important to remind yourself that they aren't important. If public nudity is the best thing they have going on in their lives they likely have few people who actually want to continue tolerating their behavior. I say do whatever you can that is of least embarrassment to yourself.

  • I don't think you are overreacting. It's rude and the facility administrator should be concerned about such behavior.

  • If one is meant to be clothing optional and the other is meant to be with towel or swim wear you’re not over reacting in my opinion. These men are imho exhibitionists and up to perverts. Where I come from the default is nude and coed, which I prefer but I always check beforehand when in another country or even city.

  • The best way to sauna is nude, and it's a non sexual nudity.

    • But there is a separate nude sauna, why should they be allowed to go balls out in the clothed sauna?

  • That's definitely uncalled for if they actually have a naked section they could be using instead. It's not fair on the other patrons and it's something you need to bring to the management's attention.

  • They were breaking the rules. I would have left immediately and reported them even though seeing them naked would not have be an issue for me.

  • I think you are overacting, but I need some clarification. Are there two saunas that are both genders and you go to the supposedly clothed one?

    • 2 saunas, both are mixed gender, one is nude and one is clothed. Some guys go nude in the specified clothed one, seemingly for no reason and disrespecting everyone else's preferences.

  • I mean management must know and if so than it is what it is. If not than tell them

  • If there are 2 separate area's then you aren't over reacting these guys are purposely doing it for a sexual thrill. Real nudists respect other people and stick to the dedicated nude area's

  • you notice a lot.

  • I've never understood why people can't do that without a towel. I think they aren't in there for the sauna, but because of a kink.

  • They shouldn’t be doing that if they have a separate one for that , I wouldn’t want to see that either, I guess you need to contact management
