Question about sexualisation and nudity?

Do you think if public nudity became legal everywhere and people were encouraged to walk around naked all the time the human body would eventually become less sexualised? Or would it make sexualisation worse?

I ask because in the nudist and naturist communities the naked body is not sexualised at all but to people who aren't in those communities it is.

  • For many years my wife and I attended nude beaches and resorts. As a male, I always enjoyed seeing beautiful women naked, but my mindset was on enjoying nature and I did not get erections at those places. And Over almost 40 years of marriage (she died of cancer) I always enjoyed looking at her body, and of course touching it.

I think many think the same way in the nudist communities. Sex is not dismissed. It just does not get in the way of normal activities.

For those who have had a lessening of interest after a long time in the nudist community, I feel you are missing a lot.

  • I would go one a bit further in a lot of European countries, the likes of full or partial is not really an issue.

I've been going to resorts, beaches and camps for years.

it’s just background noise most of the time.

however some countries freak out if someone goes topless on the beach.

Then some Middle Eastern countries it’s even more extreme.

    nudity is simply not sexual.

the. Person looking and saying it, is the person making it sexual.

  • I can tell you, from both my point of view, and that of my brother, my boyfriend, and my mum's partner, that being long term naturist does desensitise one's prospensity to being sexualised. It is the old story of "seen one, you have seen them all". Of course, there will always be voyeurs, both male and female, that will always look on naturism as being sexual, although some may get bored with day after day of "viewing"!!

    • You think you'd never get bored but eventually you would. It's like pizza, seems like something you could eat every day until you try.

  • I'm pretty comfortable nude, but I can imagine women in general would be sexualized more.

    • Yeah I would definitely agree with you

    • Let me put it this way, I'm an administrative assistant at a good size company. I'm already sexualized with clothes on. It is what it is, ya know?

    • naked women in public would be a very bad idea

  • Maybe that would happen EVENTUALLY but what would happen in the meanwhile. Would you allow your 14 year old daughter to go outside naked to play with the neighborhood boys?

  • I think it would quickly become a normal thing.
People would probably for the most part only be nude around their own homes, or in park-like, recreational areas.
I like to be nude, but pockets come in handy when going about taking care of errands.
I think that people would find that there are times and places where nudity is practical and pleasurable, and times and places where it isn't.

  • Maybe, but probably not.

  • I think if nudity was normalized, it would be less sexual, since there would be less desire to go out of your way to see it.

  • Maybe …. I’m fine being nude so it doesn’t bother me

  • I think things would get worse at first until people get used to it, then it may just diminish to a minor 'thing'

  • i would make it a point to sexualize it. I would go out of my way to make that happen

  • Maybe but I think it would take a long time to happen
