Respect Wahmen!

Respect is a privilege, not a right.
Respect is a privilege, not a right.

This is going to be my shortest mytake ever, but I haven't even been back 24 hours I already get "RESPECT ALL WAHMEN!" or "REAL MEN RESPECT WAHMEN!" replies. Calm your tits. It is a social fallacy that respect is inherent. It is not. Respect... is... earned. Respect is a notion given to those who you have deemed worthy, and who you respect is your business and yours alone. Respect is also reciprocal, so any woman who tells me that "real men respect all wahmen!" while actively and blatantly being disrespectful to myself or men in general is a total moron. Respect is a sign of endearment and acknowledgement. You can not have either of those things with an individual you know nothing about. That does not, however, mean that you must be disrespectful to those you do not know. There is a middle ground. It is not black and white. You can be neutral, and neither respect nor disrespect someone, but it is the epitome of entitlement to expect men, or anyone, to respect you just because of your gender. That in and of itself is a sign of disrespect and blatant sexism. No one is obligated to respect you. If you want it, earn it, and show respect in return. Real men understand that. /take
