In Western culture, sex and violence are usually the two biggest taboos when it comes to what we are able to show in our media. However, sex seems to almost always be deemed worse than violence. You are more likely to see a child playing Mortal Kombat and watching the Expendables than being exposed to the simple sight of a pair of breasts. Why is this? This video thoroughly discusses this issue.
Sex Is Much Worse Than Violence

What Girls & Guys Said
0 1I disagree in some ways. One of the reasons violence is exposed more to the youth is because it is a common response to anger. Kids 4 and up will exhibit violent behavior towards other when angered and it is not an uncommon occurrence for very young children to fight. It is simply part of the mind. Sex, on the other hand, only becomes an impulse once one hits puberty. It is a much newer experience. Of course violence is almost always negative, and sex is usually positive, but I have to point out the urges begin earlier on in life.
Not true. Most kids have either experienced "doctor" or heard of it before. And even if they haven't, they are always curious about seeing and exploring each other's genitals.
But the "doctor" act is a impulse based in curiosity, not sexual desire. violence is nearly always based in either anger or fear.
Why does it matter though? What harm can sex cause? With proper education on the consequences of sex, there is no bad that can come out of it unless you are just a bad person. Violence (as stated in the video) is NEVER a good thing.
