Sexual Surrogate Partners - Prostitution In Disguise?

Wikipedia says the following about Sexual Surrogate Partners:

"Sex surrogates, sometimes referred to as surrogate partners, are practitioners trained in addressing issues of intimacy and sexuality. A surrogate partner works in collaboration with a therapist to meet the goals of their client..."

Some sex surrogates are known to go up to having sexual activity with their patients.

While the primary goal of the therapist is noble in helping people with their sexual problems, the fact that those surrogate partners are on a payroll makes them official prostitutes according to the definition of the term and should therefore be punished by law in many countries or states.

What are your views on that controversial situation?

  • While it is correct that prostitution is illegal in many areas of the world, surrogate sexual partners are trained and certified medical personnel whose primary aim is to assist those with sexual disabilities and to a certain extend with major sexual issues impacting their daily intimate relations within the couple.

In most cases, therapy is done with the regular partner when the patient is in therapy.

The sexual surrogate partner would most probably only intervene on patients not in a relation or having a regular sexual partner. Also, it is my understanding that those therapists are not having sexual, full penetrative intercourse, but then, I am not a MD or psychologist.

One may think that if there is a consensual sexual penetration from the therapist (male or female) one would not consider it as prostitution since the primary aim at the therapy is not the personal enrichment by the therapist resulting in sexual intercourse in the same context as prostitution would.

Although prostitutes are a very important group of persons that are indirectly responsible for potentially lowering criminality by selling their body to people that otherwise could commit either domestic violence or worse. They should be credited and respected much more for the ungrateful work and the immense risks they are taking. Most of them are victims and there always a tragedy behind their choice (deliberate or not) to perform that profession.

    • Thanks. I agree with you on your views of prostitution.

    • Thanks for the MHO

  • Just a question but so I'm new to the concept of a sexual surrogate is this really a thing everywhere?

    • Yes, it is something that does exist, at least in a number of western countries. However, this procedure is usually accompanied by a health professional as part of a therapy for people with issues related to their sexuality. It is controversial because the gap between prostitution and medical therapy is very narrow.

  • First off, surrogates are not the same. There are men that have serious mental / emotional issues with sex and women. They are trained and educated on a lot more then sex.
Second, why is it that I can't go up and offer a woman $XXX for sex, but yet I can take her to dinner, drinks, etc... and if she has sex with me, that is somehow different? Or I can pay her $XXX, turn on a camera, and now I am a movie maker, not a john?
Now I could never go to a whore because the word just makes me think of a large swirling mass of STD's. Even though the pro's get tested often. But I was married 25 years. I have been single 5. I am enjoying being single. Sure I have dated now and then, but overall, I like being able to do what I want, when I want, and not have to deal with all the shit. The only 2 things that suck is that it gets lonely and I miss sex. So it is nice to have a woman to talk to and do things with. Sex is such a tiny, though important, part of a relationship. The only people that think it is the be all/ end all of a relationship is young people. For me, I really don't care all that much about the sex. 1x or 2x a month would be more then plenty most of the time.

    • so according to you, the surrogates are solely women that treat men with issues? Do women not have issues that require this kind of therapy by men?

  • For some people with real mental blocks it can be a real difficult journey to meet someone, break down the repressed desires to be intimate with someone. I was a 35yr old birgin. I looked onto surrogate partners a few times. I had some psycho therapy for some other stuff, we touched on this area. I was fortunate, i had met someone who i had had an odd friendship/relationship with for 7/8 months. My journey to being intimate, took a lot of soul searching and some tough conversations, took me a couple of months with her to get there. Without her, the idea of meeting a complete stranger, telling them everything, it would have been really tough. I would have considered a surrogate. Its a form of therapy. Its not prostitution in the sense of doing it for pleasure

    • I fully agree with you. My question was more aiming on the sense of discrepancy between what the law says and what is reality and where the law closes an eye

    • You're not really paying for the sex. You're paying for therapy, it happens that part of that is a physical/sexual nature. Its a subtle distinction, it could be veiwed either way. There are prostitutes that do specialize in virgins too, but i'm sure they would just be about getting the job done, rather than the psychological reasons why and really helping the individuals to grow and learn.

    • You may have a point. The subtle difference would be: Are being acting illegally for paying for sex (to the therapist) or are you receiving money from the patient for sex. I guess I will have to study law AND sexual therapy to give a proficient reply. Give me 10 years and I will get back to you with an answer.

  • I have never heard of this before.
I looked up some "surrogate partners" and it seems they are just glorified whores whose "qualifications" include being liberal and traveling to India to learn tantric practices.
No real medical qualifications of any kind, of course.

So, yep, seems just like a loophole to sell sex.

  • I think it is institutionalized prostitution. Some men go to them for socio-sexual therapy and surrogates do a better job because they are trained and don't bring "the life" with them. I don't oppose it. It is consenting adults exchanging value.
Look at it this way, Hospice is carefully regulated euthanasia. They don't kill patients. They enable them to die peacefully.
Surrogates enable a man to become sexualized without the trauma of conventional prostitution,

    • if I read you correctly, this surrogate partner only applies to men?

    • No. Only speaking from a make perspective, Could go either way. Not something I would do but I wouldn't support banning it.

    • not make. male.

  • Usually sex surrogates work with licensed sexologists. I've used one for learning Yoni massage. In order to know what you are doing you need to practice on someone since there is only a small portion of learning it that is academic. She got well paid for having multiple orgasms which isn't a bad deal.

    • Thanks for your feedback. Therefore, I would consider them as sex workers since they are getting paid for having sex with strangers, even if it is supposedly for medical/educational purposes.

  • @sueshe As I told you, I was having a different conversation with you as I know you don't like to fall in love or have sexual relationship So I just wanted to know what do you think you would do when You grow old ( after 20-25 years ) I wanted to attach a link which was related to celibacy and old age issues !

By Mistake, My phone didn't copy that link and it already had a different link copied and when I pasted then after 2 seconds I realized its a different Link... I thought to edit or delete but I had No options, So I didn't want you to see and get hurt So i blocked you but I didn't know you being a Mod can still see it... it was not " Intentional " ATT ALL... Please say Yes/No Anything 🙏

    @Sueshe

    • The offending question has been removed and for me the case is closed. I shall, however, keep a close tab on you in future posts.

    • @sueshe Thank you a lot, Trust me It happened accidentally, I also came to know 2 second later and I had No way to edit, delete or take it back ! Thank you a lot for your understanding !

  • no, cause you don't fuck the surrogate partners... if your wife can't have a child, you can have a surrogate mother but you don't fuck her. it's gonna be artificial insemination.

    • Upon checking a few articles on that subject, it seems that indeed, there are cases where sexual intercourse is used with a therapist. Since I am not level 3, I cannot post a link. However, that would be livescience. com/15913-surrogate-partner-therapy-women. html

    • i would strongly advice against that. this creates a lot of problems for both the partners and also for the surrogate mother. honestly i'd be much more comfortable with adoption. however yeah obviously everyone wants to spread their own genes if they can.

    • I can imagine that curing a sex issue that may cause another psychological problem instead

  • "and should therefore be punished by law" fuck off. Law against prostitution is oppression.

    • even though I can agree with you, I am not the one that made the laws. So, punish or not?

  • They are called high class escorts.

    • I don't know if the term applies since they are therapists that have a medical degree of some sort. An escort is just another term for a temporary sexual companion that is paid just for that.

  • They're more expensive prostitutes that know how to market themselves better. Just kinky people who took some psych classes.

  • I didn't know that was a thing

  • I prefer this at some extent

    • and that would be?

    • Having surrogate

    • that would imply that you have a real sex issue

  • I agree, they should be prosecuted.
If you want to see couples engaged in sexual situations, look at porn.

    • Should people who willingly participate in 3 somes or polyamory be prosecuted? Consentual sex is consentual sex, and if both parties agree to some form of payment for those sexual activities why should they be prosecuted any more than anybody in any other industry?

  • Good on them

  • I would love to be one!

    • If the women were beautiful.

    • the problem is that as a therapist, you don't chose your patients according to their features. What about those that do not meet your criteria?

    • Simple, I'll not have any sexual activities with them! Tho I have a very broad criteria😍

  • This isn’t real… right?

  • Pretty Much sex isn’t really free.

  • This is disguised prostitution.

    • so it should be punished by law where prostitution is illegal even if the treatment proves to be beneficial?

    • Treatment is beneficial but mostly people use it other way.

  • I think a lot of illegal activities are legal if it’s for medical reasons.
